Knock Out Fighters (1928)

Forget Fight Night Round 3 on PS3 the boxers in 1928 coin-op Knock Out Fighters are solid and weighty. With individual controls for each arm via the pistol-grip controller, landing a hit on your opponent’s chin triggers a knockout mechanism that makes the losing mannequin fall with real physics.

And you really do have to "insert coins to continue." Seeing as it's all mechanical, wear can occur, making one boxer fall easier than the other. Talk about a one-sided match…

Above: There's no awkward falls on the ropes here - they never even get close to them
