Very nice guesses on the answers to the new questions, but I think there will be exactly 4 Gears. The reason why is because Ben (Carmine) mentions during the training that he has 3 brothers, one of whom is dead (Anthony Carmine), and the names of the Carmines so far read A,B (Anthony, Ben), so the Gears probably secretly revolve around the Carmine brothers (to show off all the ways to die) and the last 2 Carmines will have names starting with C in Gears 3 and D in Gears 4, or D in Gears 3 and E in Gears 4 if they count the last name (C). Overall, the Locust are half dead right now, but as more pressure is put on them to survive, they will mutate into smarter and stronger versions of themselves.

Ok so this is all REALLY good speculation

Tai and Maria are out of the picture.
Dizzy is going to be somewhere in the next one driving something else hootin' and hollerin'
Skourge had lame death for someone stronger than RAAM.

I like what someone said about the Carmines. I agree that Anthony and Ben's brothers will be in the next one, but I'm not saying the next two. They could be twins and share the same gruesome fate or it'll be spread out with one living with regret.

I'm ging to guess that maybe the sinking of Jacinto just wiped out the Lambent Locusts or something lame like what the Lightmass Bomb did to the Kryll. Maybe no more Corpsers or Brumaks, who knows.

Speculation of the Humans->Sires->Locust->Lambent is good and all, but how do we know for sure? It sounds like a really good plan, by all means, but it just seems too cliche to do. But as all the characters here are cliches it wouldn't surprise anyone.

Although Adam Fenix and the Locust Queen are respectful of each other I wouldn't go as far to say that she is Marcus's mommy. That would be just down right... idiotic. For sure, Adam will show up SOMEWHERE in Gears 3 probably with nearby the Queen. (No, he will not be a new RAAM or Skourge.)

This, like every other #2 sequel, was built to make everyone get pumped for the third game. I believe if Epic says they want to finish the fight then they'll do it by blowing up the planet of Sera, and leaving NO trace of Locust. I'm sure everyone knows by now NOT to make Halo 3 endings. Even if the Gears games go beyond a trilogy I'll ride through until everything is answered.

Aww, I thought I was insightful because I had thought of a lot of these things while I was playing. Thanks for ruining my self esteem, GamesRadar, keep up the good work.:(

Good theories, but one question. If the locust came from humans, then where did the reevers, brumaks, and all of those come from?
Zekkek  - 1 year 3 months ago
Also, one of the war journals is Ben Carmine's cog tags and it comes with a letter to his brother, Clay, so I'm guessing he'll be in #3 to continue the alphabet of Carmines.

Some good theories here. I dont believe the Locust came from Human's. The way the game is setup makes it seem like Humans came to Sera because they killed their old planet. The Locusts where already there and left Humanity alone until we started taking all the imulsion and drilling down into their homes.

The Sires seem to be an experiment using Human and Locust DNA and nothing more than that. Perhaps thats why the war started as well.

They dont give enough clues into Adam Fenix to make any proper theories so I wont bother. The Queen has to be a Locust. I think the "clothing" was really a part of her.

We will find out in Gears 3...which I cannot wait to play. Epic has done a great job with the gameplay and Gears 2 really set everything up story wise.

okay stupid the queen aint the mother if u notice whn ur in the factory in 1 of the rooms u find a thing on sum girl name ruth who got infected but dsnt form all the way like the others so u now it was her becuz thy had done this on childern whn thy were little

Maybe Adam Fenix was experimenting on the Sires and that's how he knew how to destroy the Hollow by sinking Jacinto.
TeragRunner  - 1 year 3 months ago
I think the exact opposite of Charlie's guess. I think the locust came before the humans and that the sires we the missing link-just in the opposite direction. It's obvious by the narrative that the Locust we there MUCH longer than the humans.

As for the rustlung it's obvious that that was introduced for a set up for something in Gear 3. Somehow I doubt that the people at Epic are stupid enough to pound something in and make it important just have it fade into obscurity.

I don't think Brumaks etc. The giant locust are actually native species*. They were tamed by the locust which were humans forced unnderground after imulsion sickness deformed them. The sires were 'created' because Fenix saw the advantages of the new locust as they are
a. realy strong and
b. there is shitloads of reproducing going on here.

so he thought he'd water down the genes slowly then introduce it to humanity to create a better race. but it went wrong.
because the Locust used to be HUman rhey had architects who created the hollowbased on the natural rock.
*think dinosaurs but instead of become extinct the migrated into the caves.

P.S: 31st post wooo... ?

I don't think the Locust are from the sires I think The Locust were on Sera before the humans colonized when the humans came they gladly let them stay they already had cities down in the hollows. For several years they saw the humans destroy the surface and kill their own and when the humans invaded the underground for the rich imulsion the Locust couldn't take it no more they attacked the humans so I think the humans didn't create Locust they were down there the whole time

My personal theory is that the Sires are human test subjects who have had prolongued exposer to Immulsion. Sort've like Rustlung, but to the extreme. I also believe that Ruth was one of the Sires, as extra long nails and no hair seem to fit a basic Sire design. I'm assuming that they were kept in New Hope for containment while the scientists attempted to cure them.

As for the Queen, I suppose it is possible that she is a humoniod Locust, but the theory doesn't really fit in with the idea of the Humans invading the planet Sera (which I personally believe in). I also think it's a possibility that the 'queen' is merely a host for the true Locust Queen, and is simply being controlled (I hesitate to use the word possessed) and spoken through.

In regards to Adam Fenix, I believe that he was taken captive by the Locust so that they could gather information about the Human race. The queen most likely heard about Adam's profile of being a respected scientist (possibly from Niles and his crew, as they may well have strolled into the Locust stronghold without realising), and launched a snatch and grab for him. It's possible that the queen used the collective knowledge of various high profile humans to better strategise. That or she hoped that they would be able to cure the Immulsion-exposer illnesses that was causing their civil war.

Dizzy could come back in a third the last you see of him he is fighting Skorge with Tai. But if Tai got caught I dont know how Dizzy could escape.

To go more in-depth on the storyline, I do believe that the sires were human, and are the original for of locusts. More so, someone needs to make a comparison between Anya and Myrrah, The Locust Queen. Don't they look the same, like mother-daughter same? As for Adam Fenix, we won't know what he is, could be the King of Locusts, or sympathizer, or maybe the most pure locust-human hybrid. I mean, we've never seen his face, and how Marcus resembles him, so who knows. I also think that there is a family connection between Skorge and Raam. I mean, sure, Raam died by gunfire, and Skorge hits rock bottom(literally), and snaps his neck back. But what if they are family, and there in the 3rd, the next General we face is the missing link between the 2? Somehow, the beginning may start like MGS4, with Marcus and Dom being given only a short time to live, due to immulsion inhalation leading to Rust lung, leading to Father and Son (Marcus and Adam), meeting eye to eye, and both dying. Sounds pretty sad and terrible, doesn't it? But it sells games. I also believe that the 3rd game will be the last, and it will have the last of the Carmine Bros., one will die by the next general's hand, and the last one being the sole survivor of the War.

Well, there's other questions to be answered.

In the Journal Scrap book that Marcus keeps (Isn't that sweet, the big lug is into scrap booking?) we find some interesting tidbits.
In Landown, we find Truck Driver's Note, which mentions how the price of imulsion has sky rocketed. "The energy barons and COG are lucky we're in a war. Bet they'd have a revolt on their hands, otherwise."

In the big worm's mouth you find a car magizine that says that imulsion powered cars are beating out the environmentally friendly, AND cheaper Solarro cars. They quote "powerful interests at the highest levels of government" as the reason why more expensive, non environmentally sound cars aren't selling.

(Watchmen Spoiler Alert!)
So, I'm guessing that they started to create the sires as a secret government project, to create a war to unite the governments waring in the Pendulum Wars into a Coalition of Ordered Governments against a common foe. Kinda similar to the ending of The Watchmen graphic novel.
The powers behind this had money, like imulsion money, and used the war to jack up imulsion prices and make a killing. Metaphorically, and incidentally, literally.

The Locust, or someone else has obviously been down under Sera for a long time, so it might be that the sires were created to interbreed with the locust, transforming their phylum into the variety that we see, and making them extremely aggressive.

Baird also finds a wealth of scattered information on the locust. He wonders why, in the middle of their capital, they haven't run into any "brats".
He also finds a bunch of information that connects locust ideology to worms and later, finds reference to "worms", "a trinity of worms" and "the Great worm" in their creation myth.
What I can't reason out is why all the locust speak English, to each other, like when you throw a frag they'll panic and yell "Grenade!" and the queen speaks to them in English, yet they have a glyph writing system, completely separate from the English writing system.
Maybe interbreeding with human made sires gave them English, the universal language of science fiction, though they kept the written language of their original phylum.
The interbreeding theory would explain why the queen has marginal control of the locust, and can explain why she doesn't look anything like the rest of the Horde and instead looks like she jumped out of a Square Enix JRPG. It would also explain why there's no "brats", if you think about how the sires that Marcus and Dom found were in hibernation and weren't supposed to be awakened until a later date. See, the sires were supposed to be awakened later, to go and interbreed in a few years to make a whole new locust threat and another generation of the current locust, probably when imulsion prices dropped in the future.

I actually think that Dom has a daughter, and doesn't know about her, and that's going to be the emotional crux of Gears 3.
In chapter 5, there's a COG tag that tells a dying soldier's story about how he escaped the locust jailers and put a little girl onto a King Raven as he was dying.

Dom's little girl? A little girl who he never knew about? Sounds like emotional payout in Gears 3 to me.

I agree that Dizzy will be back. I think Skorge is a gonna though. He be replaced by an even tougher Locust general in the next game. With regard to the Locust/Human link theory i believe that Locusts do descend from humans. Why were the Locusts capturing Humans in those individual cells ala Maria/Tai and why when they when they came out had they changed so much especially in the case of tai we know he hadn't been captured long. I beleive they are convertion chambers turning humans into Locust. Tai knew this did not want to become what he had fought for so long and thus blew his brains out.

Just my thoughts don't know if anybody agree's????
Slapdog  - 1 year 3 months ago
I think you're really on to something with that conversion theory Sihard!
What I want to know is what is the deal with the lambent locust not exploding in this one and why did their "spirit?" float up into the other locust when they died? I think it's pretty clear they thought up the story AFTER writing gears 1 (explaining the lambent wretches fighting side by side with locust in the first game). So I'm pretty sure that Epic doesn't even know what's next yet as it's still being written.
