Shows how badly older games have aged....eeeeh. And why does every single black guy I see in games have to have arms that could uproot a fully grown redwood and chuck it across the Atlantic? I got a black friend and he's skinnier than a stick.
No Freakishly Undersized Torso category? I was waiting for it after Giant Triangle Chests.
Dhalism comes to mind, especially considering Charlie already filled this week's quota for Sonic punchlines.
And sometimes, a small torso is all it takes to make arms seem freakishly huge.
just so you guys know when you go to the stoked page on this site it says its coming out 01/20/2009. im pretty sure it did not come out then. maybe you should update it.
Actually upon reading this comment I kinda come off sounding like a cunt. I wasn't trying to be a douche I just hate having to go to ign to find out the release date of a game. I like this site better...
I don't get the rationale behind specifying BLACK guys with huge arms. The over-sized arm trend isn't even remotely exclusive to black characters. Ken and Ryu's arms look more out of place than Balrog's. And how about every damn character from the Gears of War universe? They're almost all white.
@kenshinxx: True, many of the characters in Gears of War are white, and they too have freakish arms, but not as freakish. They almost make a point of showing off Cole's arms. I'd disagree that Ken and Ryu's arms are more exaggerated than Balrog's. I would say that Zangief's probably are.
As I say in the article, giant arms aren't exclusive to black characters. But we've got kind of a running joke about the portrayal of black people in games. They are so often oversized, freakishly-built hulks who say nothing more than clever one-liners. I think it's noticeable enough to warrant pointing out.
Hm, fair enough. I see your point. I still think Ken and Ryu's arms a bit too large. Sure Zangief is huge...but the dude wrestles BEARS. Ken and Ryu's fighting style doesn't lend itself to overly muscled physiques in my opinion. They look more disproportional than most of the others. But yeah I see what you're saying in regards to portrayals of black characters. You guys always have the most entertaining articles. Keep up the great work!
