Winner: Lost Planet: Extreme Condition
Capcom | 360PC

Yes, it really did come out this year. Released in the bitterly cold month of January, Lost Planet's bug-squashing rompery lit up the sales charts and kept frigid Xbox Live players entertained for many months... until summer vacation came along and erased all evidence the game even existed. A few new multiplayer maps livened things up for a bit, but now with Halo 3, Call of Duty 4 and Team Fortress 2 in the picture, trudging through the snow just doesn't have the same appeal (even if the snow's loaded with chest-caving explosions and giant robot suits).

Reviews were quite diverse, with detractors citing the old-school gameplay and silly story as major downers. Well, whatever. Some of us don't need beefy space soldiers to have a good time.

Honorable mention: Crackdown
Microsoft | 360

February isn't the best time to drop a major title. Bundling the Halo 3 Beta was a good idea, but once said Beta hit, this super-powered GTA clone was swept up in Halo-mania. Too bad, 'cause some of 2007's finest co-op will go unnoticed.
