Winner: Dual Shock 3 controllers
Sony | PlayStation 3

When Sony quote-machine Phil Harrison proudly trumpeted that vibrating controllers were a "last-gen" doo-dad, gamers were united in replying "WTFyutalkinbout?". See, Sony truly believed we didn't need our controllers to rumble because we had SixAxis motion control. Riiiight.

But even before Sony settled its differences with rumble-company Immersion - thus opening the door for a vibrating PS3 pad - it was obvious that a Dual Shock rebirth was on the cards, as even developers had started voicing their preference for rumble-active controllers. The only questions that really remain are why: a) It takes so long for the damn thing to be launched around the world, leaving non-Japanese gamers grasping into thin air; and b) Sony didn't just get its act together and sort out a rumbling SixAxis, as now we're all going to have to buy a new ruddy set of pads.

Scratched disc: Assassin's Creed "twist"
Ubisoft | 360PS3PC

Ubisoft couldn't stop 'hinting' at it with sledgehammer subtlety, Jade Raymond couldn't shut up about it, and the whole thing was revealed in the first five minutes anyway. Jeeez.
