Fugly Pokemon

Oct 10, 2007

When judging Pokemon, a good Pokemon trainer takes many things into account, like stats, type weaknesses, abilities, and the Pokemon's move pool. But these attributes don't always tell the whole story. Sometimes, you have to also consider aesthetics when choosing which Pokemon is right for you. In other words, you want you Pokemon to look cool while it's kicking ass.

With that in mind, we present our list of the fugliest Pokemon to ever strike fear in the hearts' of their opponents. These Pokemon range from mildly unsettling to downright creepy, not to mention a few that are just plain ugly. To start things off, let's get a pair out of the way that we've been talking about since Pokemon Red and Blue.

Jynx and Mr. Mime

Main offense: Disturbingly humanoid, general fugliness

What went wrong: These are the first two humanoid Pokemon that were ever unleashed on the world, and arguably the creepiest. Mimes/clowns aren't the easiest material to work with in the first place, but trying to pull offBlackface successfully? That's just asking for it. Alleged racism aside, Jynx is downright ugly any way you slice it, from its voluptuous figure in that gaudy dress to its wig-like blond hair. And Mr. Mime is just... creepy. Look at those dangly arms, and imagine he's reaching out to grab you. We rest our case.

Lesson learned: Humanoid Pokemon have a dangerous potential to be creepy unless they're done absolutely right, likeBlaziken, for instance. Mimes and racist caricatures do not make good Pokemon.
