Famous movie locations spotted in GTA IV

We put images from the silver screen up against Liberty City's digital recreations

Words: James Jarvis, GamesRadar UK

The film: Shot almost entirely at the Dakota Building in Manhattan, Rosemary’s Baby focuses on Rosemary Woodhouse, a young housewife who mysteriously falls pregnant after having a strange dream about a demonic presence. Could she be carrying the spawn of Satan? Yes, she most definitely could.

Real-life location: The Dakota, West 72nd Street, New York.

Despite ending so the audience could make up their own mind about what happened, editor Sam O’Steen went on to direct a sequel ‘Look What’s Happened to Rosemary’s Baby’ predictably, it was shit.

The Film: Three paranormal investigators set up a ghost busting business in the heart of New York. Soon after, amid an unexplained rise in paranormal activity, an extremely powerful being called Gozer appears and the Ghostbusters are called in to save NYC and the World.

Real-life location: North Moore Street, New York.

The Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man suits cost approximately $20,000 apiece. Three were made and all were destroyed during filming.

No offense, but are you simple or something?

The globe in King of Queens is in...wait for it...Queens! It's near the Hall of Science in Flushing, and it's probably one of the most recognizable Queens landmarks in existence.

The Columbus circle globe is a completely different beast. You guys got the comparison images right (the GTA one is the same one from the show), but it is NOT at Columbus circle.

Sheesh!

"Because of the film's contribution to New York City, December 11 2002 was named Two Weeks Notice Day by the Mayor of NYC."

As if Sandra "Avocado farmer" Bullock has contributed more than say... WOODY ALLEN to NYC.
