The new Splinter Cell does look pretty amazing. Very interested in that.
Left 4 dead 2... well, cool, but I still think valve could let Left 4 Dead breathe for a bit before bringing out a sequil. Personally i'd prefer halflife epesode 3 and then left 4 dead 2 when they've finished with half-life2.
Felicia Day on Stage? I got to talk to her over the Phone when I helped with the Desert Bus for Hope. I missed talking to Tycho and Gabe from PA though. :(
Raised $20 by driving the bus for 5 minutes though :D
Chris you actually liked all that time dedicated to the Beatles Rock Band? I dug the trippy shit too, it reminded me of trippin balls at Grateful Dead shows and watching the screens during Drums/Space.
I thought the part was way too long but I'm not much of a Beatle's fan.
The XBL game Cliffy B's demoed glitched at the end didn't? Did anyone else notice that after the guy appearantly killed the robot he was standing on top of it had it actually been there. They paused the game and ended it there and just walked off.
Wish Infinity Ward had had more time to show off MW2. Maybe had the cut out 3 minutes of climbing a snowy mountain they might have.
Oh well. Have fun guys and can't wait to be disappointed by Nintendo tomorrow.
IW is releasing two (2) map pakcs before the game is even out. And they will cost money. Are they retarded? Why not include them IN THE GAME. Do they just want more money?
So now that I've actually seen the E3 footage I'm going to back peddle a little bit, Natal took me by surprise with just how innovative it looks, I still stand by my statement that the controller is and always will be an important part of gaming but Natal opens up a huge world of opportunities and innovations. I just hope that they can occupy the same industry because now I don't want to see either go. But as for Milo…
"Oh, 'ello there. I'm an early prototype for skynet but until I kill you all do you want to help me fish?"
Shame there wasn't more information on the actual games this year. I'm not really interested in Alan Wake or The Beatles Rock Band or Forza 3 certainly. The others maybe.
However, the LIVE stuff (I use my laptop for facebook for goodness sake) I REALLY don't care about because my Xbox isn't connected to the net , partly because I can't be bothered with a) paying for the wireless adaptor and b) I'm not paying for LIVE no matter how cheap the subscription because surely they make a load of money out of LIVE anyway. Enough to make it free certainly. I mean they are frickin' Microsoft.
As for "Project Natal", I'm sure it's going to be great for interfaces on the console. I like the idea of accessing menus, hell, I even like the idea of playing games on it, much in the way I liked the idea of the Wii (which I haven't used in several months...my bad.) In the end though its going to cmoe down to the support of publishers.
Sports would work. I mean you could play FIFA or PES or any sport game on there, but what's the point? You could go outside in the fresh air and do that couldn't you? And, I don't know, see people? Also, how does running about work on there exactly? You'd need a pretty big TV and area to run about in, I don't think jogging on the spot is going to give you the same control, is it? Could be wrong tho.
As for other types of games, they will likely all work, but are all games developers going to take the time to learn this new method. The Wii's interface caught many of them out and most continue to produce games that are just ports with extra waggle.
Could you even do this with "Natal", surely you'd HAVE to build the game from the groud up to support the interface? Could you port said game to Wii after? I reckon that while many devlopers are excited they are also pretty annoyed because this is yet another thing they have to get to grips with.
Definately, the future of video games, but maybe 5 years time, once the next X-box is out. At the moment I can only think of developers producing yet more casual mini-games for it.
Also I'd like to point out that Microsoft seems to be trying to be a jack of all trades. Question is will they be a master of none? You can't be everything to everybody.
