All of you haters should try to remember that Valve is actually one of the good guys. They make consitently outstanding content for the PC, a platform that is poorly supported by other developers and publishers. I am very happy to hear that L4D2 is coming at all. The fact that its coming soon is awesome and they will have my $50 for this and I am looking forward to anything else they produce in the future.

I bet this is going to take a long time and they're just trying to build up hype.

I'm middle road on this one. I liked the first L4D, but like portal, didn't see it as the hit everyone said it was. Killing zombies is fun, but never once did i get that gut wrenching feeling you should get from a zombie game. it wasn't scary. it was a good run and gun shooter, but wasn't scary. the lack of plot also made it lackluster in my eyes. i like narrative. I also hated all the times they warn you that when you activate this the horde was going to come, instead of making it a surprise, they tell you to brace yourself. would have made it much scarier if they didn't do that. plus, the safe houses ruined the mood. you make it to a safe house and it place the little jingle, killing the feeling of helplessness you just got while trying to get there.

So, if they can improve largely on the first (which from what I've seen, they haven't) then i will give it a go. if its just L4D again, then i pass. I don't play the first one enough to warrant the purchase of the second.

L4D2 is basically L4D1 but with new weapons and new characters, it could have been on a different engine but it's the same, the only reason anyone is going to want to buy this is for the dismemberment

You know, I'm excited, but I'm really disappointed that they're going to have 2 games in a single series released within one year, but I'm still waiting on Episode 3 after almost two years.

Nonetheless, however, I love Valve and their games.

Oh now it has fixed itself after 3 refreshes and a comment commenting the supposed bug.

I had mixed feelings about L4D2, but then I don't think it's Valve milking their customers, they have a lot of credibility compared to most developers, and they bought the original game from turtlerock studios or something like that. I believe they'll greatly improve the game, I'll be buying this thing.

It's not just you and its not just this article, that seems to have been happening alot lately since I've nocticed about 5 or 6 times already in the last week.

For all you people who are saying "yea but Valve are one of the good guys, they take care of us and make great games so stop complaining", they've always been one of the good guys BECAUSE they don't do this kind of stuff. They have always given their big games alot of care and attention post-release in the past which cannot yet be said for Left 4 Dead, and have never been big on releasing sequils close together, which granted is annoying for Single Player games like the Half-life series, but great for multiplayer shooters. This could be a sign that something is changing at Valve and they will become like countless other developers and try and milk their franchises for everything they can, frequent sequils, and not much difference between them bar graphics improvements now and again, and a new engine every 5 releases.

Ask a long term TF2 fan whether they'd have liked to have seen TF3 announced at this years E3 and you wont get many enthusiastic answers. Sure you can say L4D isnt TF2, same kind of idea in a different setting but not quite up to the quality, but thats only because they havent given it the same care as they gave TF2 over the last year, most likely because they were buisy with a sequil, and are unlikely to in the future since that team will have L4D and L4D2, and which do you suppose they'll want to evolve more? (Hint: its not L4D, so I think we really can say that L4D2 means L4D really will be Left 4 Dead).

Cant wait L4D was one of my favorite games ever and this one looks even better

I'm a little mixed on this. Personally, I think they should've just kept the first one and expanded it through expansions and updates and such.

Am I angry this exists? Hell no, I'm excited for it and I think it's going to be just as awesome as the first.

Although, the fact that it takes place during the day makes me wonder if it'll still be as intense...

This game looks krunk. but a better name would be a good upgrade. Need more videos of all tha weapons in action to sell it better though.

Personally I'm happy that I'll get to see more new things and have a few new campaings, but there is no reason at all valve couldn't just put it into DLC form, I know its big but it could be done. Valve should be more interested in creating new campains for the first game like they SAID they would do. But what do we get? One single small level in the survival pack that practically nobody wants to play on. To finish this up, Valve should be doing more fixes and putting out more DLC for the first game before they send out a sequel and have to start patching and re-patching it.

I hate this whole thing, it just seems crazy to me when you look at what we're being forced to buy as a sequel.

Nothing they have shown in the video is from a new engine, this is all stuff the community would be able to achieve with the SDK. Valve are making a monumental mistake.

Ive heard an interview with Chet... a writer who wrote the story for the original left 4 dead (who cares... about... the story, with a game like left 4 dead? seriously)

Chet was saying things along the lines of "Yeah you know what we missed with left 4 dead 1? the chainsaw"

Left 4 dead does not... suit... melee weapons. Its a run and gun game, your always in motion, you should never be staying in one place to long... if i have the choice between a melee weapon that takes em out when they get close, or a pistol that has a perfectly functioning melee option that beats them back enough for me to run and then take any stragglers off at a distance i will choose that.

We already have pistols with infinite ammo with a fine melee. We dont. Need. Melee weapons..

How long was the whole hardcore fanbase of left 4 dead moaning about melee spamming? they finally fixed that with melee slowdown, pulling the focus away from meleeing to shooting and running...

What pray tell, is going to happen by introducing melee weapons? What a contradiction.

All of this focusing on the story more is making me queezy.. left 4 dead has become a fantastic competitive team based game, the updates they've been lavishing the game with have been labours of love that have perfectly balanced the game and made it a brilliant achievement in the world of multiplayer gaming...

Im sorry im just rather hurt by this whole ordeal, its taken me around a week since this was announced to get over it and i still just want to punch who ever thought of this garbage in the face. Or bludgeon them with there own god damn melee weapons.

What purpose does that serve, when we already have molotovs and cans that spread fire over a wide area igniting all of the zombie horde at once, and bullets that fell any normal zombie in a couple of shots anyway.

It just seems like Uwe Boll has taken over and he's butchering a sequel to a very important film, and of course he's just going to destroy everything the original had to offer.

It all reaks of a heinous lack of imagination, creativity, marketing knowledge, knowledge of the fanbase and how to improve an already what is deemed by the hardcore fanbase, a perfect multiplayer game.

I can understand Valve for moving on and taking the series forward. Look at TF 2 and its obvious Valve usually have a great after release commitment.

The real reason im posting is to just plain express my pain at there being no PS3 version. come on valve it can't be that much of a pain to programme for!!! (dodgy Orange Box ports aside, which was done by EA) aw well guess i will be playing on my little brothers 360 then
