Dear GR,
After reading some of the comments on here I have to ask why are so many of your readers dumb as fuck? I mean most of them apparently no nothing about Disney outside of all the Hannah Montana they seem to be watching. Disney owns ABC and yet filth like "desperate house wives" comes on it, Disney owns ESPN and I watch great football on it every fall, Disney owns Touchstone pictures which makes plenty of rated R movies, Disney just finished the Pirates of the Caribbean series last year (a film series with plenty of killing and great acting), and yet when Disney buys Marvel these dumb asses instantly feel the need to ramble on aimlesly about how its the end of the world. Please realize people that not everything Disney has a hand in is geared towards 12 year olds.
Kick-ass rollercoasters, indeed. Superman: Ultimate Flight, Bizarro, and Batman: the Ride are some of my faves. I never got to ride Spider-Man 3D OR the Hulk Coaster, so this distresses me. If only they could just MOVE them to Disney-MGM Studios. All that park's got going for it is the Tower of Terror and Rock 'n' RollerCoaster, anyway. ...And Star Tours.
We'll just have to agree to disagree over the quality/artistry that Disney displays and about Walt Disney the person. However, what you cannot argue is that Disney is the king of marketing.
Will Disney water-down Marvel's content? I doubt it. They've proven that they can handle other properties with respect (i.e. Pixar). Will there be some crap along with the good? I'm sure there will be, but there's always growing pains. Will Disney milk the property for all it's worth? You had better believe it!
Fact is, Disney can make any crap make money. That's why the direct to DVD sequals lasted so long (thank God they've finally stopped). So with Disney backing them Marvel will get more money to do more cool things. It's as simple as that. I'm fairly confident in saying that Disney will not mess with Marvel's development process (Iger himself said "If it's not broke, don't fix it") but what they will do is give Marvel the means to do stuff they were unable to in the past.
This does mean you'll see a lot of cheap merchandise and other such non-sense (picture Mickey with a Siderman Costume). But that's not the meat of what Marvel does and it can largely be ignored. Marvel will still be Marvel, it will just be payed for by Disney.
At first, I thought, Oh no! Because disney is a fucking piece of shit company.
But then I though, wait a minute, marvel has sucked for the last 15 years, and it was going to continue sucking whether or not it got bought by suck-ass disney. So now... I don't really care.
No...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Why the HELL did this HAPPEN? Well, Marvel is officially the worst comic book company on this ENTIRE planet. Disney SUCKS! S-U-C-K-S. Soon we're going have have crap like High School Marvel (with Spider-Man and Spider-Woman as the main parts), and Hannah Magneto. Probably. Hell, I'm not even a big comic book guy, but this is TOO much.
This makes me a little less worried about what will happen to Marvel. I personally don't wanna see a Marvel Disney crossover but it will probabley happen and there's nothing we can do about it.
And I find it funny how Chris' desk and Brett's desk seem to have morphed to make this. Haha
Also, Not Braze makes a good point, Disney wil use Marvel to make some crap, but Disney is the king of getting crap to make sh!tloads of money (remember high school musical anybody?) and I trust Marvel can use that to make something good
