You remember that game you treasured as a child, the one you still get warm and fuzzy and misty-eyed just thinking about? ...Banjo kazooie .what about it
Seriously, it sucks.
ye now take it back NOW!
but anger aside it really was a good article especially galo coz no.3 sucks loads
Well sadly to me this article seems to basically be taking the form of an anti-videogame ad. If you hate those games then okay fine I really don't care but atleast play the games through a few times before you bash them to bits. Do just a tiny bit more researching before you have a field day, mmkay?
I just Have to say that I completely HATED Halo Wars. It was nothing compared to EndWar. It was ok on single-player, but the online sucked... No 3v3 deathmatch? A 20 minute wait to start a game? Admit it, it sucked.
i didnt like gta 4 either and here are my 2 main reasons
1. driving. half of the frikking game is drving like you do in real life, getting to the actual action. then after missions, you have to drive someone back, instead of just cutting to the chase. i mightve liked the game alot more if i didnt get bored of it 3 hours into it!
2. the cheats suck. no tanks or jetpacks? after awile, killing people gets boring using plain old guns, maybe id like to cause some hell the real way - using stuff that isnt very real
lol am so glad i'm not the only one who found gta iv to be incredibly boring, n even though i was a big fan of the halo series i completely agree with the hype surrounding halo 3. I mean shockingly uninteresting story line to finish off an epic saga, lack of interesting a.i made it so repetetive and the only interesting characters die. Great article as always gr.
I find it funny the PC editor hates World of Warcraft, Yet it one of the biggest games for the PC.
I also agree with Hating Guitar Hero. You put years of practice playing a Fisher Price toy. It quite sad really.
i rather like halo 3, the campaign is pretty underated and its just a nice shooter to play though this is probably because my first real shooter was halo combat evolved.
super mario world is so much better than all of the sonic games put together. such herasy! its an amazing game (though i do prefer SMB3)
and just when i thought i couldnt get worse... you say you hate Smash Bros. best fighting game ever. one huge trip of nostalgia, if you liked the games the characters were from then i'm sure you'd like this. i am saddened that you hate this.
eurgh HATE warcraft too, its all the people in my college course go on about. mentioning anything else results in "......fag" such as Zeldafag, Fablefag, Halofag, Mariofag, Pikminfag, Portalfag etc etc. also the most of them happen to stink, have greasy hair and i swear NEVER go out. who says sterotypes are wrong. fucking geeks.
yeah vice city was better than 4 and SA
i absolutley loathe mario kart wii. love the others. though girls seem to love it.
braid is fucking awesome. the puzzles, the (confusing) story and the whole new concept. aw so awesome.
I definitely agree with Mario Kart and Grand Turismo.
One game I've always scratched my head over is Goldeneye 007. Yes, I went there. The single-player bored me and the multiplayer had to be one of the worst I've ever played. I thought so in 1997 and still do today. Can't jump, horrible level design and the limit on the weapons always bugged me. Blah.
I find it really obnoxious when people critique guitar hero for being too unrealistic. That's the point it's a game: a fun, party game that doesn't try to pretend it's anything else. Of course it's nothing like playing a real guitar, if it was it would be a pretty unmarketable game given the amount of skill that is required to play a guitar. Enjoy it for what it is. If it didn't have the guitar it would be an incredibley dull rhythm game, anyone who has played the game using only a pad will know what I mean. The game offers up some escapist fun, which is the point of video games last time I checked. Criticising Guitar Hero for it's gimmick is like criticising people who use steering wheel peripherals for not being real drivers. Get over it, nobody I know actually thinks they'd have any skill as a real guitar player. So shut up and stick on "Hit Me With Your Best Shot"!
I love you Eric for confirming that I'm not the only person in the world who doesn't like Gran Turismo. By far the most boring racing game I've ever played. I don't care if it is supposed to be a "simulation", I don't play racing games for realism, I play them to feel a sense of speed and rush.
Different people dislike different games. I get that. I'm probably the only person in my Zip Code who 1. hates Madden NFL, and 2. has already pre-ordered Virtua Tennis 2009. All of the editors have valid points, and that cool.
Except for the guitar playing douche. Guitar Hero and Rock Band are about having fun. It's not the same as playing a real guitar, and we get that. Why do we play those dreadful games, when we could be playing a real guitar? Maybe because we lack the talent needed to do so. Not everybody is gifted enough to actually play a real musical instrument. Just like most people who play Forza probably can't race a real car, or of the people who play Call of Duty 4 may not be candidates to carry and use firearms too the full potential.
The other articles are about popular games that some editors don't like. Mr. Keast has written not about the games, but how he hates the people actually like them. Hate the games, not the players.
video games are all fake and they choose to talk crap about guitar hero? of course its not like a real guitar because if it was, alotta ppl wouldnt be able to play. the fun of it is to press colored buttons and pretend that your acually playing. and plus guitar hero is just plain fun. no reason to attack it.
i cant say that i harbor anything as strong as "hate" for most the games on this list (WOW and the sims are pretty much the closest i come to it), i definitely agree with most of the things in the article. i was waiting for a game to come up that i would be jump up in opposition to, but it just never happened. dont get me wrong, there are several games on this list that i actually like a lot, but i still share a lot of the same feelings, and i hate to use a tired phrase, but overrated does come to mind with most of them. i find it funny that none of these games are on my beloved list (super mario world is about the closest)
but i wish something other than fan service and recycling was called out against brawl. i could care less about the fan service and the recycling is annoying, but thats not why i dislike it. maybe its because im a fighting game junkie, but i cant stand it when people talk about smash bros as if its some legitimate tournament level fighter. its not. i have friends who i can beat consistently in just about any fighting game that have their way with me in smash bros. wonder why that is
and as much as i like silent hill 2 and ico, i have to say that i had the same thoughts about the game. i found sh2 boring a lot of the time and my biggest draw to ico is that i love the art style and atmosphere. nothing else about it really floored me, and the fact that i HATE escort missions always soured it in my eyes. plus, like braid, i always felt an air of pretentiousness about it and felt like i had to love it. i could go on about all the other games in detail, but im tired of typing so, most notably:
gta 4 and SA - call me weird, but i enjoy the games for a while and just end up getting bored with them like halfway in. its been that way for me since gta3
gt4 - gt completely fell off my radar after 3
halo 3 - i dont hate halo, but i just never got picked up by the bandwagon. i just never saw it as anything that special
cod4 - similar to the halo thing. just never reeled me in completely. 4 did it the most tho, just because i was tired of ww2
ff8 - was never that high on my ff list anyway. it was in the "not bad, not great, but better than good" pile for me. never liked the love story, or squall for that matter. helluva a lot better than tidus tho. i cant stand that guy
