When I was a kid, I was totally loosing sleep on christmas eve over many old sierra adventure titles.... waaaay back in the day. I feel waves of warm nostalgia when I see the old box art for those games.
Great article. Has a lot of content, and it's pretty funny.
The first one that I remember is the Atari commercial with the little girl - that one just weirded me out, I thought she might have had psychic powers or something. My house got a Sega Master System so by the time the "MARIO! MARIO! MARIO!" commercials came out, I passionately *hated* that guy. And yes, it was only because I didn't have a Nintendo.
I was a Sega kid.
Then Sega kicked me in the face repeatedly and shot my dog. That's what you get for brand loyalty, kids! Don't do it! Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo don't love you back! One day they'll take your favorite game and DESTROY it! I promise!
Rock Band has grew into a phenomenon, if you don't have it then a close friend has it or close friends friend. There will always be someone to mooch of off.
I remember my first home consoles. A Playststion with Crash Bandicoot for my 9th birthday, and then a Nintendo Gamecube for my 10th birthday.
Before that all I had was a gameboy color. I've always been a Nintendo and Sony fan since then. But anyways, the animal crossing game commercial reminded me of all that. The year after I got the gamecube, I played animal crossing in a Gamestop a month or so before christmas. I loved it, and asked for it. So I ended up getting it for christmas, that and the e-reader. I cant comprehend why I thought the e-reader was cool back then. Maybe it was I was 12 when I wanted it. lolz!
