Possibly the funniest thing we read while researching this feature was in an old press release that had a transcript of a PR-staged interview with Gift designer, Phillipe Ulrich. "At first glance," Ulrich muses, "Gift resembles a platform console game like Mario or Sonic."
No he doesn't, he looks like an inflamed intestinal tract.
He continues with the bomb that, "When I create a game, I never think about the possibility that it could be legendary." We can't really add to that.
In fairness to Gift, the game was okay, but we'd bargain that it would have been made better if Mr. Ulrich had replaced the Gift character model with a black square.
Honestly, what man, woman or child would confess to finding Gift appealing? And more to the point, aren't there focus tests in place to prevent this kind of monstrosity ever making it past the concept stage?
