Expect Resident Evil 5, says Jovovich

Massive opening box office for the fourth film seems to have secured a fifth

Film four, Afterlife , pulled in $73.2 million worldwide in its first three days, admittedly in what box office pundits are calling a “sluggish weekend”. But to put another spin on it, that’s two and a half times what Resident Evil 3 made in the same period. To put a further anti-spin on it, you could point out that this one was in 3D, so the ticket prices were considerably higher. Or you could just say, “Whatever… bet Sony’s happy with the moolah.”

The Vulture article goes on to say, “director Paul W.S. Anderson, her husband, already has some ideas for the fifth Resident Evil installment, and this time he wants the audience’s ideas, too. ‘We’ve been talking to a lot of fans on Twitter and stuff, so it’s probably going to be one of the first movies where we really talk to fans to see what they want, and what characters they want to see. It’s going to be a more interactive process.’”

So, who’s going to be the first person in the comments section below to admit to getting on Twitter and suggesting, “Don’t bother…”?
