Universal executive Holly Bario has been named as the new executive VP production at the studio, and we couldn’t be happier.
She’s overseen some of the studio's best comedies over the past ten years, including Bruce Almighty, Meet the Parents, and The 40-Year-Old Virgin, so we’ll let her off for You, Me and Dupree. And the first two instalments of The Fast and the Furious franchise.
The news comes as a good sign for Evan Almighty, which, despite its record-breaking budget, must be good if Universal are prepared to promote Bario, who’s overseeing the project.
Universal president of production Donna Langley had plenty of nice things to say: “Holly is a tremendous asset to Universal. She understands that magical balance that brings comedy to life while also having a firm grasp of all the realities of development and production. She is generous with her counsel, a terrific team leader and has wonderful relationships with filmmakers, talent and colleagues throughout our industry. We congratulate her on this well-earned new title.”
Aw, ain’t slow news days nice?
