Elisabeth Sladen announced for the SFX Weekender

The SFX Weekender just keeps on getting bigger and bigger! This week we’re pleased to announce that Sarah Jane herself, Elisabeth Sladen, will be joining us in Camber Sands on 5-6 February.

With the third season of The Sarah Jane Adventures set to hit screens on 15 October Elisabeth Sladen has been extremely busy as of late. But she will be taking time out from wielding her sonic lipstick in February to meet fans at the hottest SF event of the year. She joins previously announced Who-spinoff alumni John Barrowman, James Marsters and Gareth David Lloyd at the event.

After a stint as a ballet dancer, Liverpool born Sladen caught the acting bug and it wasn’t long before her talents got her noticed by Who producer Barry Letts. In 1973 she became the third Doctor’s companion, investigative journalist Sarah Jane Smith, ably assisting the Doctor for three and a half years (and through John Pertwee’s regeneration into fourth doctor Tom Baker). Enduringly popular Sladen reprised the role for a series of audio adventures in the following years, and a 1993 Children in Need Special, before guest starring in the 2006 Who episode School Reunion and earning her own CBBC spin-off series.

Tickets are still available for this unmissable event (visit the official SFX Weekender website here or call 08700 110034 to discuss ticket options - VIP tickets have sold out but there's plenty of Budget availability at the moment). And be sure to check out SFX issue 189 for an exclusive on-set look at the new season of The Sarah Jane Adventures, on sale Wednesday 21 October.
