Echoes of Faydwer - hands on

Bursting at the seams with new content, this expansion will keep real life at bay

Besides a ton of new areas and raid bosses, Echoes of Faydwer also introduces two new tradeskills. Tinkering allows you to construct clockwork items like a Gnomish Parachute which will grant the glide ability to non-Fae characters.

You’ll also be able to learn Transmuting. This tradeskill allows players to break down items into base components which can in turn be used to craft other items. Got a legendary item you can’t equip? Break it down with transmutation to create a Mana Battery which a Tinkerer might be able to use to power a clockwork device.

But Transmuting isn’t just for creating items that other tradeskills use. It can also be used to create Adornments, which can augment the stats of weapons and equipment or endow them with special abilities. Although some Adornment recipes will be available for other tradeskills, you can expect the most adept tweaks to your equipment from experienced Transmuters.

Echoes of Faydwer also introduces cloaks to the list of armor types. These can be adorned as well. But what we’re really excited about is that Guild Masters can design custom cloaks for their members. Once a cloak has been completed, the design is locked, meaning that your guild’s cloak will be exclusive to your members.
