E3 2011: Watch the first Star Wars Kinect trailer. It makes playing a Star Wars game look like a lot of faffing about

The force is... whatever

Star Wars + Kinect = AWESOME EWOKS! Right? Actually, maybe not. It's easy to be mega-cynical about Kinect games, but that's because Microsoft's black shiny thing that lives in front of our telly still hasn't proven itself as anything other than a gimmick box yet. And this trailer for the Star Wars Kinect game just makes playing a Star Wars game look like a lot of unnecessary huff and puff. We could keep whining like ungrateful man-babies, but you might as well have a look for yourself:

Admittedly it doesn't look like its going to be targeted at grown men, but can anyone think of a Star Wars game that would have been worth this much energy expenditure? Imagine how even more less fun Force Unleashed II would've been if you had to play the entire thing standing up. Of course, we'll professionally reserve complete judgement until we've tried it ourselves. All we're saying is that we doubt we'll be booking the Max Rebo Band for the launch party.

There'll probably be more on Star Wars Kinect at the Microsoft conference. Which is happening later today (9am US/5pm UK). We'll be streaming it LIVE. So, like, watch it on GamesRadar.

Quote from comment above: "In the far far distant future when we have VR perfected (3D 1-1 Motion controls)" *Cough* Playstation Move... plus. *Cough* a 3D TV. *Cough* In reality though, I'm really mad this isn't going to be on Move. I mean, c'mon, when they first showed that controller, you immediately thought "LIGHTSABER"

How is it that Microsoft's technological leap forward is such a graphical leap backward?!
  • MySistersMenstruationTastesFunny - June 6, 2011 3:10 p.m.

Was this any different that what one would expect out of a Star Wars Kinect game?

Wow I came to the conclusion a lot of people wanted this to be the Hardcore game for the Kinect and looks like it falls amazingly short! I was not expecting much from this and glad that was the case it looks awful from that video!
  • Spybreak8 - June 6, 2011 1:43 p.m.

Lol "The uploader hasn't made this available in your Country". Well It's not available in the US?!
  • mockraven - June 6, 2011 1:42 p.m.

I had to read the title again to make sure it was a 360 game and not a Wii game. The graphics and gameplay style just don't look right. I'm certain this will be one of the few Star Wars games that don't make it into our collection.

This looks legitimately disappointing...just gimmeh TOR to be honest!
