E3 2010: The 10 best trailers

Kid Icarus: Uprising

Frankly we're so hot for the 3DS and Uprising, Nintendo could have shown us three minutes of Reggie and the Shigger caressing each other tenderly and we'd have still hollered like morons. Thankfully, the trailer it did show us was a hell of a lot less disturbing than the image we've just served you up, displaying a frantic shooter that will no doubt be burnt into our corneas forever come next March. Oh and the sly apology from Pit to all the fans that have been begging for a new Kid Icarus game for years? Bravo, Nintendo. Bravo.

Kirby’s Epic Yarn

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Just look at the little guy. All made of string and everything. Did you see how he just pulled back on the world like it was a bit of scrunched up newspaper? Bloody heart-melting. Sorry our conscious brains are shutting down. There's just too much damn adorable in here. D'awwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Dead Space 2

Wellity, wellity, wellity, well. It looks like Isaac has discovered his larynx. This sequel to one of our favourite games of 2008 looks to raise the scares and scale of the set-pieces dramatically. C'mon, how amazing is that bit where he almost gets sucked out into the cold, uncaring vacuum of space at the end? That alone is better than the whole of Resi 5.

Child of Eden

Half music video, half game trailer; all awesome. This is pretty much the only thing even vaguely connected to Kinect (Boom! Boom!) that we can muster any excitement over. Catchy, with an easy flow and incredible art style, this trailer almost washed away every unpleasant memory from that car crash of a conference. Oh and Skittles? You can officially go and meet yourself a nice big game hunter whenever you want.

Star Wars: The Old Republic

Yeah, so nothing even close to the above video will be recreated in the game. But after five minutes of rousing John Williams music and awesome lightsaber action, we really couldn't care. Still not as good as Episode III, mind.

Any other videos from the show you loved? And while we're at it, what are some of your favourite game trailers of all time? GTA III? Metal Gear Solid 2? As long as you're not a shitting spam bot, put some words together in preferably semi coherent fashion in the comments section.

Infamous 2 trailer was really cool. But nothing at this E3 has beat the UC2 demo at Sony Conference during last years E3
  • Druupwnz - June 22, 2010 2:23 a.m.

Yeah, The Old Republic trailer pretty much kicks my ASS. All over the place. If bioware could make the actual game be like that... holy jesus, it might just be the best Star Wars thing EVER.
  • Imgema - June 22, 2010 12:05 a.m.

Portal 2 Trailer makes me smile, every time.
  • aang1050 - June 21, 2010 10:17 p.m.

I love the music for kid icarus uprising. It sounds like music from a GOOD sonic game!
  • AnonymouZ - June 21, 2010 9:08 p.m.

Doctalen delivered a hard blow of realism in his argument. Care to reply to THAT sobchak? lul! also, forgot to say that Mortal Kombat, out of ALL the new mortal kombats they got... THIS is the one that actually made me be interested in the game. No more kiddie blood it seems. Hooray to that.
  • GMAN2 - June 21, 2010 8:19 p.m.

I thought the new Deus Ex trailer was really cool. Did anyone notice how corny some of the characters in Vanquish sound?
  • michaelmcc827 - June 21, 2010 7:54 p.m.

Wow...the Hot Pursuit trailer was far better than some stupid Kirby bullshit.
  • Fuzunga - June 21, 2010 7:53 p.m.

Although it premiered before the show, the trailer for Deus Ex was hands down the best.
  • Doctalen - June 21, 2010 7:21 p.m.

@Sobchak: Of course we know their not wizards, they are techno angels here to save the furry midgets from the big bad Death Star.
  • Sobchak - June 21, 2010 7:05 p.m.

uh...The Old Republic looks awful. You guys DO realize Jedi aren't wizards, right?
  • Ded - June 21, 2010 6:16 p.m.

Aw you didn't show the full version of the Marvel vs Capcom 3 trailer.. But I suppose that wasn't an E3 exclusive? Also, Pit's voice... why couldn't he be mute like Link :/ recaptcha: dniester Czechoslovak ...
  • michelkeepertje - June 21, 2010 5:22 p.m.

I feel as if there's something missing, but what?... *snap* I know! How about Zelda Skyward Sword?
  • ChipTheExecutioner - June 21, 2010 4:56 p.m.

Oh yeah and the Final Fantasy versus XIII is still pretty awesome. its refreshing seeing a final fantasy character stab and slice waves of dudes (as well as snapping necks) and there actually be blood from it. speaking of Final Fantasy versus XIII though, When the hell are you gonna finish it Squenix?
  • IChooseUAntistaMON - June 21, 2010 4:55 p.m.

Wow you guys change your opionion A LOT first you said that SWtoR was BETTER than all thre prequils now you say not as good as Episode 3 lol
  • ChipTheExecutioner - June 21, 2010 4:49 p.m.

Child of Eden was pretty awesome as like a music video but I'm not so sure if it even would be fun to play. Deus Ex 3 had an amazing trailer, I also really liked that early MGS4 trailer with snake just smoking in the truck
  • CH3BURASHKA - June 21, 2010 4:45 p.m.

@GameManiac: Of course Portal 2 will be on PC. You deserve half a facepalm for even doubting its existence, seeing as how that's Valve's forte. Someone ban FNG pls.
  • CH3BURASHKA - June 21, 2010 4:43 p.m.

What a wonderful E3. I'm so happy to be alive in this day and age.
  • Levy - June 21, 2010 4:39 p.m.

I thought the AC: Brotherhood trailer was really cool...
  • ultimatepunchrod - June 21, 2010 4:34 p.m.

anyone who has already signed up for the old republic just from watching that trailer the FF14 trailer from sony's conference at least showed you that mmos dont look very good and play like a last gen PC game which is ok for an MMO thats how they work but that old republic trailer just didnt do anything for me.
  • FNG - June 21, 2010 4:18 p.m.

I say that Nintendo came in last at E3. Do you know why, I'm not such an idiot that I jizz in my pants every time I see Mario in a refurbished sidescroller or some flying kid. Nintendo has been doing the same thing for twenty-five years, stop encouraging them, they might decide to inttroduce some new games with original characters and a storyline.
