Dwayne Johnson teases potential DC character

Dwayne Johnson has been teasing a potential DC character he would like to play, with the star hoping to get a mystery comic-book project off the ground.

With no writer attached to the project at this stage, Johnson is understandably coy about revealing the character’s identity, but he has revealed a few clues about who said mystery-man might be…

“There’s been mutual interest with myself and DC for many years to find the right character,” says Johnson. “I, like everyone here in the room, love superheroes. So there’s been mutual interest with us for years, and we’ve been having ongoing discussions.”

“The first quality we were looking for was that he had to be extremely complex and have a lot going on. The other quality was that he had to be well-known but never brought to life.”

“The third thing - and most important - is he had to be a badass motherfucker, okay, and on a Superman level of power, where he could throw down. In those three qualities, I’m happy we’ve found that character. Right now, we’re out to a lot of writers.”

Black Adam and Lobo are two names that have been previously mentioned, and would still appear to fit the bill, but Johnson refused to confirm either, suggesting he may be able to reveal more at Comic-Con. We’ll be sure to be watching…
