DVDstruction: Bullet Porn

Five HD movies featuring above and beyond Blam

Face/Off | 1997
Believe it or not, this isn’t the dumbest flick on the list. Yeah, they switch faces, as in skin and chin, and the good and bad reverse roles. Whatever. It’s little more than an excuse for John Travolta and Nicholas Cage to ham it up in four delightfully embarrassing performances (two apiece), and allow John Woo to blow shit up for 138 minutes on a Hollywood budget.

The premise is every bit as silly as it is awesome, and you get all the crossed-arm discharges, shattered glass, and yes, the doves are back. It's all the gun-fu glory from the aforementioned Hard Boiled, as well as an exploding oil refinery/prison and a boat chase to end all boat chases.

The Disc:
You’ve got commentary, a sixty minute documentary, a handful of deleted scenes, and a twenty minute segment on an extremely deserving director scattered over two discs.

All were ported over from the standard-def iterations, but most of us are in it simply for the 1080p picture and lossless sound. And they’s beautiful, widely regarded as some of Paramount’s best work in the HD format.

Trivia:
Travola, Smavolta. This masterpiece was originally slated to star Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone. God. Dammit!
