Yoshi's Island DS

Eleven years later, Yoshi's still carrying Baby Mario on his back - but now he's got to baby-sit Baby DK and Baby Peach too. A DS update that's just as fun as the original.

To many of us, the original Yoshis Island for SNES represents the pinnacle of 2D platformers (if you missed out, go grab a copy of the GBA port). It has absolutely everything you could ask of the genre: brilliant level design, clever puzzles that dont slow down the action, and an absolutely awesome main character. If you dont love Yoshi, your heart is cold and ...

Often cited as Super Nintendo's last great hurrah, the original Yoshi's Island was a cracking twist on the Mario platforming template and a rare star outing for the plumber's trusty steed. It just goes to show that good game ...   » Read Full Yoshi's Island DS preview

More candy-colored platforming from the old school

If the completely classic style of New Super Mario Bros. isn't enough to satiate your 2D hunger, we're going to bet the animated-storybook presentation of Yoshi's Island 2 will serve as a welcome side dish of nostalgic dessert. Instead of playing as Mario, you're the long-tongued dinosaur Yoshi - you do, however, carry Baby Mario on your back, and have to constantly monitor where he is at all times. If you're hit, Baby Mario pops off and floats around in a bubble until you pop him back out. ...   » Read Full Yoshi's Island DS preview
