An EA producer has said that Rockstar "spazzed out like little babies" in reaction to the GTA parody in The Simpsons Game.

The comedy spoof level, titled Grand Theft Scratchy, didn't go down too well with GTA publisher Rockstar, who forced EA to rename the level; now called the not-so-clever 'Mob Rules' stage.

Speaking on GameTrailer's Game Head program, Simpsons executive producer Matt Selman explained where the controversy began:

Apparently Rockstar were among a number of game companies that werent happy with the way The Simpsons Game, out for 360, Wii, PS2, DS 2 November, was parodying their creations and wanted somethings removed from the final code.

In an excusive interview with CVG the lead designer, Greg Rizzer, stated “we've had to pull stuff from the game”. But it seems, apart from renaming the trailer on the official site from Grand Theft Scratchy to the less catchy Mob Rules, not

EGM December 2007 Review Scores Roundup

EA upsets games companies with The Simpsons

October 4, 2007

EA's forthcoming The Simpsons game parodies 30 years of videogaming and gaming IPs, but there are games companies that have refused to see the funny side of things.

"I was always under the impression that when you do parody, it's a sign of respect... If we make fun of Grand Theft Auto, we're not going to hurt the sales of Grand Theft Auto... But yeah, we've definitely had some reactions - we've had to pull stuff from the game", The Simpsons lead designer Greg Rizzer revealed

First Big Ball Image: The Homerball figure you get when you pre-order The Simpsons Game!

The Simpsons Game Pre-Order Campaign Revealed

The Simpsons Game video walkthrough

31 Aug 2007

Being one of the few hugely devoted Simpson's fans that religiously watches back to back episodes on cable TV every night, buys the box sets and regularly attempts to defend the recent series lack of form on the pretence they usually have at least one laugh out loud Homer moment, we've been rooting for a decent Simpsons game for years.

Having to put up with people claiming that Hit 'n' Run was a 'good' Simpsons game (no it wasn't) was bad enough but the fact it turned out to be

The Simpsons Game Co-op Hands On Impressions

E3 07: When GamesRadar met The Simpsons Movie director

Tuesday 10 July 2007
So there we were, lounging in the bar of our hotel in Santa Monica, sipping daiquiris and enjoying the live musical noodlings of the Cross Heart Jazz Experience when David Silverman, the director of The Simpsons Movie, strolls in with a honking great tuba slung over his shoulder and joins the band for a head-nodding, chin-stroking jazzmatazz of sweet, sweet ear sex. And we thought the tuba was only good for making comedy flatulence parps. Shame on us.
