A follow-up to a 2009 experiment which revealed therapeutic benefits of Tetris confirmed the study's finding and revealed a few new facts of its own.

Last year, Emily Holmes, a researcher at Oxford University, demonstrated that playing Tetris helped prevent the formation of unwanted memories, such as those of a particularly acute trauma. Holmes subjected volunteers to graphic images and had some of them play Tetris afterward. Those that played the game had fewer disturbing memories of the images than the control group...

Japanese pop star vanquishes 26 of 30 opponents playing Nintendo's puzzler Tetris DS at a promo event over the weekend

Nintendo has unveiled screens of the Mario themed levels of its upcoming handheld puzzler Tetris DS, which we revealed last week. There are several different modes playable in the game and each one has a different theme based on a classic Nintendo character. As Mario is the figurehead of the company he gets standard mode, which allows gamers to play Tetris as nature intended it - just form those horizontal lines and watch them disappear.

Nintendo has finally confirmed the existence of Tetris DS, a spruced-up version of the Russian-born puzzle game complete with a special Mario themed mode and touch-screen action. Have a peek at these screens and we think you'll agree it's looking pretty sharp. The game borders on massively multiplayer, enabling up to 10 players to compete through the Tetris DS Download Play ability, where a single game card can transmit enough of the game to your friend's handheld to run a multiplayer match.
