Celebrate 15 Years of Suikoden with New Arrangement Albums (News)

Konami is celebrating 15 years of Suikoden with a series of new arrangement albums for vocals and piano. The first album has been announced for January 2010, and will feature two songs from each game in the series, one redone with a vocalist and the other in a piano format. The Suikoden series has a long history of excellence in the music department, so fans should have a lot to look forward to.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars wasn't the only big Nintendo DS game released on March 17th. Konami announced on Tuesday that Suikoden Tierkreis, the first installment in the RPG series to be exclusively released on the DS, had shipped to retailers in the United States.

The week ahead belongs to the portable gaming systems, with several big titles for the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP, and nothing new for the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3. Rockstar Games brings Grand Theft Auto to the DS with Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. PSP gamers can look forward to Resistance Retribution. Don't forget to link up to Resistance 2 on the PS3! The first DS entry in the Suikoden series.

Konami has today announced that its epic role-playing title, Suikoden Tierkreis, is to be released across Europe for Nintendo DS on March 13, 2009.

In the game the player is cast as a young villager called Hero, a member of the defence corps in Citro Village. With his childhood friends, Liu, Marica, Jale, and Dirk - the leader of the corps, Hero heads to the eastern hill on a routine patrol. Konami has been bundling soundtracks, posters, and other goods with their DS game releases in Japan, which has been frustrating for those who wish to import these additional items separately from the Japanese version of the game. Thankfully, Konami composer Norikazu Miura has confirmed that at least Suikoden Tierkreis' soundtrack will have a separate release. Now if they'll only go back and do this with Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia!

Konami is expediting Suikoden: Tierkreis' localization. We already have some screens of the English build which is on track for release in North America this March, around three months after the Nintendo DS game comes out in Japan. Your quest in Suikoden: Tierkreis is to gather the 108 Stars of Destiny (again) to overthrow One King who wants to wreck the universe.

As a twist you can loan your collected warriors to other players via Nintendo Wi-Fi. When you send a unit out it leaves your party to travel to another person's game. Eventually the character returns bearing treasure and hopefully some new abilities. The community feature sounds novel, but followers of the Suikoden series might be disappointed to hear this is a spin-off that takes place across parallel worlds outside of the main series.

Suikoden Tierkreis has recently been rated by the ESRB, at the very least confirming Konami's intentions to release the game in North America.

Rating: Everyone 10+

Content descriptors: Alcohol Reference, Fantasy Violence, Language, Mild Suggestive Themes.

The synopsis offers some further insight into how the game plays, some of the characters' personalities and some events without being specific. They still remain very lights spoilers.

Suikoden Tierkreis Coming To North America Sooner Than You Think (News)

Suikoden Tierkreis is scheduled to come out in Japan on December 18 and Star of Destiny seekers won't have to wait a year to play it in English. I spoke with a representative from Konami Computer Entertainment America who informed me they are already working on localizing the DS game. It's on target for "early 2009? which translates into Q1 2009. As long as progress steadily continues we should see Suikoden Tierkreis in North America this winter.

The most recent update on Konami's Genso Suikoden Tierkreis Japanese website states the release as being the 18th of December, 2008.

Also, two special editions are available when ordering for Konamistyle, with a two-disc soundtrack, an 96-page artbook, five bookmarks, a Tierkreis story CD, a Suikoden calender, and two CDs featuring content from the Suikoden Radio Show.
