When I was trying to think of a way to integrate the upcoming 4th of July holiday into my article, I was trying to figure out what we Americans like. A quick look at the front page of most video game or entertainment sites revealed that what we like most is Top 5 Lists. As always, I live to serve. E3, the video-game industry's big trade show, is next week, and you'll be hearing a lot about all the new software coming between now and Christmas. But there's a bit of a lull until Aug. 12, when Madden NFL 09 unofficially marks the beginning of the fall game season. July is a good time to catch up on some of the games you may have missed. Here are the best of the year so far.
A 2008 release has been given for console and handheld versions of Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution, which is being developed by Firaxis Games.
"Civilization Revolution is the game I've always wanted to make!" said the man himself, Sid Meier. "We are excited to take advantage of the power of next generation consoles and the ingenuity of handhelds, to create a great and unique strategy game for newcomers to the series, as well as the millions of fans around the world who enjoy Civilization
PS3 and Xbox 360 owners partial to a bit of empire building aren't exactly spoiled for choice, so today's announcement that celebrated game maker, Sid Meier, is currently "handcrafting" an all-new Civilization game for the two consoles - as well as DS and PSP - will come as welcome news indeed.
