The original Rainbow Islands is, without question, one of the greatest platform games ever made. The vertical rainbow-fuelled play is unique, and it's totally unafraid of syrupy cuteness and juicy fruit bonuses.
And it's the sequel to Bubble Bobble, which is undeniably one of the greatest platform games ever made. What is uncertain is whether anyone is going to mess this up like they messed up Bubble Bobble Revolution. Fingers crossed, no.
Rainbow Islands Revolution clearly isn't your
If Ratatouille weren't based on a film, its story - about a rat named Remy who wants to become a world-class French chef - would probably elevate it to weird-work-of-genius status. As it is, this platform-hopping adventure is relegated to the realm of baby games, although that doesn't mean it should be
The Wii version of Raving Rabbids may have turned out pretty good, thanks to a fairly unique mix of minigames that made effective use of the remote and nunchuk. But its back to the trusty side-scrolling blueprint of yore for
Knee-jerk reviews after ten minutes' play-time. As is only right and proper.
Last week Capcom revealed one of its strongest lineups in ages during the Captivate 08 event (we briefly talked about it on TalkRadar). The embargos have lifted and now we're able to say what we saw, what we played and what totally stole the show (it surprised the hell out of us, that's for sure). We'll be adding links throughout the day, so read on!

Bugger me. The 3DS is genuinely the most exciting bit of technology I’ve seen. Like ever. Honestly, the first time I got my hands on it and saw a certain fat plumber powerslide around a corner while pink petals appeared to fall out of the screen, it left me speechless. Inside, you'll find out why you should sell all non essential body parts to own one.

"What is it...? What IS it?" Barry Burton, still struggling with what passes for acceptable voice acting, hopes it "isn't Chris's blood."
Anyone who's had to uncurl their toes from the horror of this opening scene will know exactly what it is: a direct port of the PlayStation original.
This is partly true. Deadly Silence does contain a Classic mode; an exact replica of the original, complete with its unintentionally amusing dialogue and horrendous intro.
The transition to the DS, however,
Everything was better in the past. There, we said it. Maybe that makes us rapidly aging and overly nostalgic twentysomethings, but old games were great. As much as we enjoy new games today, nothing will ever feel as great as the first game we got for our birthday a million years ago. Thank the lord of retro gaming that our prayers have been answered with the virtual time machine/videogame Retro Game Challenge.
Many devoted gamers, for very good reasons, hate casual games. These simple titles are seen as the end of the medium, aimed at the lowest common denominator and sucking development times and money away from "real" games. But now we have Rhythm Heaven, a new music game out to prove that Nintendo can still make a "casual" title that can appeal to hardcore gamers, casual players and really anyone with the ability to press a button.
If you told us a robotics manufacturer accidentally mixed parts from household appliances with prototype military machines to create polite, yet sophisticated deathbots, we’d totally believe you. We’ve seen Terminator and know that clashes for the survival of humankind are imminent. Such is the case in Robocalypse, a deliciously hilarious RTS set for release on the DS this summer from upstart developer Vogster.OBS –
