Core Group relaunches Nintendo DS Lite in South Africa along with new Wii titles

DS - Nintendogs - Core Group relaunches Nintendo DS Lite in South Africa along with new Wii titles

Core Gaming Group, Nintendo's representative company in South Africa, launched two popular Wii titles at a press event held this past Friday in Johannesburg. In addition, after roughly a year of the world's best selling handheld console being absent from the South African market, Core Group relaunched the Nintendo DS Lite.

The media briefing was presented by RJ van Spaandonk, the executive director of Core Group. RJ outlined the upcoming Wii releases, detailed the Nintendo DS Lite relaunch information and discussed the success that the Nintendo Wii has enjoyed in South Africa since its launch here in October 2007.

The Nintendo DS Lite was relaunched in South Africa and will soon be available in stores. It will retail at R1 799 and is available in four colours: black, white, silver and pink.

Nintendo has announced two new DS Lite hardware and software bundles, to launch this Friday, November 23 in North America. One bundle features a gold, Triforce-emblazoned DS Lite packaged with Nintendo's own The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, while the other includes a metallic rose DS Lite stamped with a paw print and bundled with the "Best Friends" version of puppy sim Nintendogs.

After more than a month at the top, Halo 3 finally relinquishes control of the software chart down under.

Last week's No2, Crash of the Titans for PS2, wrestles top spot from Master Chief, while FIFA 08 is up seven places to No3.

SingStar RnB makes two entries this week, the standard edition charting at No4, and the bundle pack at No9.

Excluding Halo 3, the top ten consists entirely of PS2 and Nintendo DS titles.

The annual pre-"Black Friday" bargain hunting has started among predatory shoppers, and sears already reaping the benefits of shoppers' insane vigilance. This detail from a Sears ad has revealed two new DS hardware configurations. DS Fanboy already knew of the gold Phantom Hourglass box, but this is the firmest confirmation we've seen from an actual retailer.

More interesting is the reveal of a metallic pink Nintendogs: Best Friends Edition bundle for $149.99. DS Fanboy does not know if this is a Sears exclusive, but the little ad clipping makes no mention of exclusivity. We doubt it, since one of the intrepid commenters hinted at exactly this hardware for GameStop as well. A new hardware bundle for a two-year-old game? Seems ludicrous on the outset, but it'll probably sell a (few million) bundle(s).

Monday 22 May 2006 Nintendo has announced Nintendogs: Dalmatian & Friends Edition, a new pup pack for its cutesy and insanely popular DS puppy raising game, which is due for release on 16 June.
