Tecmo: Itagaki lawsuit a "huge problem"

Going public was "self-centred" says Tecmo in official response

Tecmo has defended its position in the conundrum over Itagaki's resignation and lawsuit against the company announced yesterday.

The company says the "unpaid completion bonuses" Itagaki speaks of were an agreement of previous management, and that Itagaki had been paid his dues in the form of annual bonuses.

"Our company getting sued by this employee is huge problem," said Tecmo, going on to claim that his "reasons for making this lawsuit public are self-centered."

"What's more," adds Tecmo, "this employee is filing this suit for himself and making it seem like he alone is responsible for the development of the game titles the rest of the Team Ninja staff had poured its heart into."

But work on "new game titles" is ongoing, says Tecmo. "Team NINJA is currently working on a line-up of new titles. All of Team NINJA is starting to work together on interesting new game titles," reads the official statement, translated by Kotaku.

Not stopping there, the statement also apparently mentions Itagaki's sexual harassment suit, saying that internal investigations were continuing (despite having said previously that no sexual harassment had taken place).

It's all kicking off.
