UK publisher signs distribution deal for North America.
Activision has signed a distribution deal with System 3 to handle the UK publisher's forthcoming Ferrari Challenge game throughout North America.

Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli will hit shelves in late summer on PS3, PS2 Wii, DS.

"Without a doubt, this is the defining Ferrari experience for video games," said Mark Cale, CEO at System 3.

"It has been a collaboration with professionals on every level and we've truly captured the power, beauty, and excitement that is the Ferrari Challenge Series. This excitement is taken to a whole new level with the partnership of Activision's power within the North American marketplace."

"For the last 60 years Ferrari has been synonymous with precision, performance and elegant design, so expectations for the game will be high from auto enthusiasts and racing game fans alike," added Dave Oxford of Activision Publishing.

"Everyone involved in Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli has been dedicated to ensuring this product over-delivers on the experience of this legendary brand."

System 3 and Activision will showcase Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli on PS3 to for the first time at the Montreal Grand Prix on Friday and over the weekend.

System 3 has announced that its upcoming racing simulation, Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli, will be heading for the PlayStation 2 this spring. The announcement comes ahead of a special issue of Official PlayStation Magazine, which sees Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli taking pride of place with a special wrap-around cover and Ferrari-branded packaging framing a world-exclusive preview.

System 3 has picked up the Ferrari license and is readying an ultra realistic racer, Ferrari Challenge, to hit Wii, PS3, DS and PSP. Although details are currently sketchy, Ferrari Challenge will feature an inevitably epic 16-player online mode on the PS3, while both portable versions will support 4-player wireless racing, and game-sharing (multiple players, one copy of the game). FIFA Ousts Gears Of War From Top Of UK Charts (FIFA 07)

There have been no new entries in the UK top ten this week, but considerable movement, as soccer simulation FIFA 07 moves up three places to reclaim the number one spot. The PlayStation 2 version is now outselling Pro Evolution Soccer 6 on PlayStation 2 by a factor of 3:2, while the Xbox 360 version of Konami's title is outselling its FIFA 07 equivalent by the same ratio.

Xbox 360 exclusive Gears of War was the most obvious victim in the shuffle of positions, with sales down by 45 percent on its debut week Â¿ although it remains the only single format exclusive in the top ten.

Meanwhile, the newly released PlayStation 2 version of Call of Duty 3 kept the game afloat in the top ten for Activision, while the new Xbox 360 version of movie tie-in Cars did the same for THQ. Girl's toy license Bratz: Forever Diamondz proved to have the best week in the top ten though, with sales up by 45 percent Â¿ led by the Nintendo DS version which accounted for 80 percent of all sales for the title.

Outside of the top ten, Nintendogs: Labrador & Friends re-entered as high as number thirteen, making for five Nintendo published titles in the top twenty. The highest new entry though was PlayStation 2 exclusive Guitar Hero II at number sixteen, which sold almost three times more than during its predecessor's debut. Home console movie tie-in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow re-entered at number twenty-three, boosted by sales of the DVD release of the movie.

There was no place however for other Christmas titles such as Warhammer: Mark of Chaos from Namco Bandai/Deep Silver, Cricket 07 from Electronic Arts, Who Wants to be a Millionaire? Party Edition from Eidos, Sonic the Hedgehog from Sega or movie tie-in Happy Feet from Midway. Many of these titles stand a good chance of charting in the top forty next week, although others will no doubt be lost in the traditional Christmas rush of new titles.

LOVEFiLM, Europe's number one online DVD rental service, expects Assassin's Creed to top sales and rentals this holiday season.

"Assassins Creed will definitely be up there; our audience have already heavily pre-ordered this and the sure scale of the experience is very cinematic, so will prove popular amongst film fans," Chris Bird, head of marketing services for LOVEFiLM, told GamesIndustry.biz.

"Kane and Lynch will also do well, as will Call of Duty 4. FIFA 08 and PES will also be 'must buy' for anyone getting a new console over Christmas."

Link's latest Legend of Zelda adventure for Nintendo DS debuts at No1 in Spain and Germany, and at No2 in Sweden.

FIFA 08 makes three entries in the Spanish chart and two in the German top ten. In Sweden, Football Manager for PC tops the league.

While PC titles dominate the German and Swedish top tens, the Spanish chart has a distinctly console, specifically DS, flavor.

The Orange Box debuts at 3, Phantom Hourglass at 4

Sega's Football Manager 2008 has entered the UK's all-formats chart at number one this week, knocking EA's FIFA 08 off the top spot.

Accounting for 38 per cent of all PC titles sold in the past week, Sports Interactive's management sim is Sega's first multiformat number one title since last year's version of the popular football franchise.

GC: Hands on with FIFA 08 DS (FIFA 08)

In terms of visuals, the difference from last year's version isn't huge but there is improvement in terms of the footballers themselves. Of course, FIFA 08 isn't going to blow you away with uncanny likenesses, but the players seem a little softer on the eye. The pitch isn't quite the toxic luminous green it was in FIFA 07, either.

Indeed, as is typical of an EA FIFA game, the game's presentation is generally strong, with animated logos and stat screens swooping in and out of the action between goals, giving a feeling of all-round polish.
