Fans who have played the main numbered titles might find the DS button layout--moving with the D-pad, selecting commands with the X button--a little bit like being lost at sea. But, even that is only right at the start. In no time the discomfort fades and you feel like you're playing "Kingdom Hearts". The most unusual part is using the lower touch screen to change perspectives. While your left thumb is on the D-pad controlling movement, your right thumb manages the touch panels to regulate the point of view. It's quite an original way of controlling things (though it's possible this will change over development). The battle system is very simple with nothing unusual about it. However, gone is the system where magic used MP. Instead, we saw that commands like Fire had a number beside them, showing that each command is now governed by a limited number of uses.

Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days' teaser website has turned into an actual website now, with menus to click on and everything else you'd come to expect from a Square Enix website. It's still lacking in compelling content, however, aside from a downloadable wallpaper and a beautiful background song. (You can also see the Japanese character profiles for Roxas and Axel, as well as browse through a few screens in the "Story" section.)

The other interesting 358/2 Days news is that in the manual for the DS remake of Dragon Quest V (which released last week in Japan), an ad for the game boasts "Coming 2008." We'll probably find out for sure at Square Enix's DKS3713 event whether this is true or just an advertiser's wishful thinking, although it's important to keep in mind that us non-Japanese gamers will have to wait for localization, anyway.

Looks like Square Enix is staying true to their word to release Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days sometime this year: A new advertisement of the game, found inside Dragon Quest V's case, states the game is "Coming 2008". Perhaps Square Enix will finally reveal the release date during their private event, DKS3713; After all, they did state a demo will be available there.

Square Enix's Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days development for the DS is doing well and the game is scheduled for 2008, according to Famitsu and Dengeki.

Dengeki's issue was released today and has confirmed Famitsu's info from last week.

Nintendo Dream's March issue features an interview with Nomura, who decided to share a bit of new Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days information. Here it is, hopefully scans will surface later on:

· The controls have changed a lot since the demo at the recent Jump Festa, and feel "much better".

· The magazine has provided an image of Riku and Kairi together, and another image of Riku as a boss.

· Nomura says the development team is having problems with the DS' capacity, and because of that there might not be voices throughout the entire game. He also mentions they are working on getting around that.
