DS News | Digimon World Dawn / Dusk
Later this year, Namco Bandai will release three new Digimon titles: Digimon World Dawn and Dusk for the Nintendo DS and Digimon World Data Squad for the not-dead-yet PS2. The DS games look to follow the same format as the dual Pokemon releases we have all come to be familiar with, but with a certain twist: The pair of titles boast "parallel and interweaving storylines" told from two different sides, in this case a conflict spurred by a massive earthquake. There will be over 400 new monsters ...

DS News from N4G | Digimon World Dawn / Dusk
DS - Digimon World Dawn / Dusk - Digimon World: Dawn & Dusk On GameSpot GameSpot (and GameFaqs) have just added two new pages under their DS section. Those games are Digimon World: Dawn and Digimon World: Dusk. These games are the English versions of Digimon Story Sunburst & Moonlight (as you can tell by the URLs).

This is most likely their names, just keep in mind that this is no official announcement, it is just a new page on GameSpot. Maybe if Agumon waves his tail enough, we will get the game soon.

DS News from N4G | Diner Dash
DS - Diner Dash - Move over Halo 3: Online games offer free play CNN Money reports:

For all the hype about Microsoft's Halo 3 video game, ten times as many people have played the hit online game Diner Dash. Diner Dash, developed by PlayFirst, is a so-called casual game - an inexpensive, easy-to-learn online game that appeals to a wider, younger audience.

Casual games are played on a Web site or downloaded and, due to the cheaper format, they don't bring in the kind of money that traditional video games generate The casual game industry struggles to get players, particularly young ones, to pony up to play.

Now casual gaming startups in the U.S. like PlayFirst are experimenting with the "microtransaction" concept that's been a hit with kids. The microtransaction model is hugely successful in South Korean and China, which use it to combat piracy.

Diner Dash, played by more than 200 million people, has made $40 million in revenue from the $20 model since it launched in 2004. PlayFirst CEO CEO John Welch says their paying customers are now skewing much younger, and he believes they have hit the formula...

[The news story also mentions other casual gaming companies, titles, and models including Club Penguin, Nexon (Kart Rider and MapleStory), Tencent (Chinese), Boonty (Cafe.com), Pogo.com, and Kongregate.]

DS News | Diner Dash
The very first thing you see when entering their lobby is a curvaceous statue of Lara Croft. The second thing? An intimidating life-size replica of Hitman's Agent 47. But gaming publisher Eidos is offering more than just testosterone and other hormone-driven action games this year. They've also got a surprising number of mainstream-friendly handheld titles in the lineup. The games are simple and straightforward... are they also addictive? We dropped by their offices earlier this week to find ...

DS News from N4G | Dinosaur King
DS - Dinosaur King - E3 08: Sega Blowout: Dinosaur King Destructoid writes: "Now we have a trailer (after the jump) and screens from Climax Entertainment's Dinosaur King, a game our own Tiff Chow described as "Rock, Paper, Scissors with dinosaurs shooting lightning and using wrestling moves."

At a glance, this game looks like another Pokemon knockoff -- albeit with dinosaurs -- and after reading the fact sheet I'm not so sure that would be an inaccurate observation. Instead of capturing the 100 available dinosaurs inside tiny red and white balls, however, you'll need travel to archeological sites across five continents and dig up fossils with your stylus. After you revive the unearthed dinosaurs you will, of course, make them fight other dinosaurs with the 240 plus moves available.

Dinosaur King will be releasing sometime this September. Does it look like something you might be interested in?"

DS News from N4G | Disgaea DS
DS - Disgaea DS - 411mania's Release List for the Week of February 16, 2009 411mania gives a rundown on this week's game releases. Highlights include Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero?, Street Fighter IV, DoDonPachi Daioujou Black Label Extra, Shooting Love, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, Metroid Prime Wii.

Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero? (PSP)
Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero? is one of the best platformers I've played in years thanks to it's tight controls and above average presentation. However, this game is definitely not for everyone. In fact, I'm pretty sure that only hardcore platformer junkies and people with infinite amounts of patience will get past the first three or four stages without developing a desire to throw their PSPs at a wall in rage. But if you can hang on, getting through the game can be quite satisfying and is an achievement that is worth bragging about.

Street Fighter IV (PS3, 360)
It isn't necessary for me to go in-depth since every other site is already doing it. I will, however, bring to your attention one of the coolest features SFIV has - the Arcade Request system. Basically, instead of watching a static screen while waiting for someone to challenge you online, this system allows you to play against the computer and seamlessly accept a challenge when one comes your way. It's like going to an arcade and playing against the CPU until someone gets the nerve to plunk down fifty cents to take you on. If you set it to accept only Player Matches (unranked) you can keep things going by rematching or, if you don't want to play the person again, you can quickly and easily go back to arcade mode after your match and continue on with the CPU until you get another challenge. It's hard to believe that it's taken Capcom this long to implement such a system. I can only hope that SNK does the same thing in its home version of KOF XII.

DoDonPachi Daioujou Black Label Extra (360 Import)
Every shooter needs its own hook to stand out. While Trigger Heart has its grapple syst...
