Games have to be made, of course. Theyre created from scratch, not born with their daddys nose, with developers piecing them together down to the genetic level. So, its no shock to see them changing and evolving as they head towards commercial release: HUD tweaks, visual improvements, character makeovers, gobs of spit ‘n polish and the like.
While all games go through a sequence of iterative facelifts, some go through a complete reinvention. Others get scrapped completely,

Ah, the life of a game's character. Born into a custom-made world, forced to live out a life that's been scripted already, doomed to die a million times at the hands of men, women and children. If you're successful, you might get to do it all over again in a similar sequel. But what if you were so popular you were given the shot at doing something else? Want to be a kart driver? Want to get into music?

EA has released a brand new trailer for the upcoming racer, Need For Speed: Pro Street. And this one's all about the smoke effects.
There's not that long to go now until the launch of EA's new Need For Speed title; it's out around October. This time round the focus is on realism, but it's not really going after the likes of GT or Forza.
"We're definitely not looking to make a simulation. I think 'simulation' is a bit of a dirty word," producer John Doyle recently told us.

You know what's always been missing from Need For Speed? Smoke. Lots and lots of smoke. Fortunately, that's just what we're treated to in this fresh footage from NFS Pro Street, the semi-reinvention of the flashy racing series.
We have to say we like what we see. Regular videogame smoke/steam/mist can be so, well, wispy - but this is top-grade billowing clouds of the stuff, like the spouting steam of a red-hot kettle trapped at boiling point or a smoldering tire wedged in a roasting

Conflict: Denied Ops (PC)
The PC version is by far the best of the three from the recent hands-on we had with the game. A co-op shooter that allows you to switch between characters at the push of a button, this works well online or off. It's a tad generic, but there are some nice moments in here. Worth a look for shooter fans.
