SouthPeak Interactive Corporation has today announced that a duo of mighty mushroom games are coming to Wii and NintendoDS this March. Mushroom Men: The Spore Wars on Wii and Rise of the Fungi on NintendoDS, offer gamers a unique Platform adventure, from the perspective of a tiny hero with a big mission.

Back this time last year, it emerged that new studio Red Fly was planning to release a quirky little DS game featuring some characters known as the Mushroom Men. The whole thing was still on the drawing board though, and little more has been revealed about the game since. Until now that is. Today, the studio has spoken out a bit more about the game - now titled Mushroom Men: Rise of the Fungi - and what exactly it is mushroom men get up to when they're not lurking in dark, damp places.

The man who taught us all about Jerry who was a race car driver and Wynona's big brown beaver, who then later gave us classic theme songs for great shows like South Park and Robot Chicken, is now helping ensure that the Mushroom Men game is going to have at least one thing going for it, memorable music.

Yeah, we'll give E3 its props. But the last thing we needed is another ginormous game expo that lets the big boy publishers hog the spotlight and peddle their billion dollar franchises front and center. Enter the grassroots showcase, Expo for Interactive Entertainment: Independent and Original - or more preferably pronounced as the sing-songy EIEIO.

Newly-formed publisher Gamecock has announced that its upcoming title Mushroom Men will be waging war on the Nintendo Wii and DS.
