Why has GamesRadar devoted five whole days to anthropomorphic rodents and smile time gags on the week Halo 3: ODST hits shelves? It’s partially due to poor scheduling (not necessarily on our part!) and a lifetime of love for The House of Mouse. ...

is enjoying 'huge' pre-order levels, according to the firm.
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (pictured)?is the first entry of the series to appear on DS and will be released on October 9th.

"Kingdom Hearts has always been incredibly popular. As the first new release into the franchise for three years, pre-orders are already way in excess of typical DS product," UK sales director Doug Bone told MCV.

The latest companies to pick up on the trend now include both Game Crazy and Best Buy. Unfortunately the news isn't quite so astounding as Game Crazy are offering the same postcards as GameStop, although their poster is of one of the 358/2 Days Wallpapers instead. Best Buy on the other hand are offering the same limited edition cover that Amazon got their hands on."

Article has hands on impressions of all organization XIII members in KH 358/2 Days.

From Siliconera: I quickly realized that the character you choose in Mission Mode is going to be based largely on the way you play Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days. Some present a larger challenge than others. Some characters use brute force while others make better magic users. And then, there are some that are just plain hard to use.

Here are my initial impressions of the 13 members of Organization XIII in combat. Keep in mind, these are just my personal opinions, and a character that didn't work for me might end up becoming your favorite.

1. Xemnas: He may be first on the list, but he's the last character I tried using. His stats are generally above average, compared to the other members as a whole. Unfortunately, he doesn't have that same pizazz that Xigbar, Xaldin, Lexaeus and even Luxord or Vexen have. He's a great character who works well in practically every situation, but just not all that special. I thought he was good, but I didn't think he was great. Especially since his combo only lands three hits.
It should be important to note that this image is nothing but a placeholder or a mock-up. It's not the official cover for the game, though, it is a pretty good guess as to what the cover can look at."

Square Enix today squashed the rumor that "Final Fantasy Dissidia" and "Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days" would both arrive in the U.S. on Aug. 31.

"No, that is not correct," a Square Enix representative said, when asked about a recent Gamertell report concerning both titles.

Square Enix have announced to gamers that Dissida Final Fantasy (PlayStation Portable) & Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (Nintendo DS) will be hitting North American shop shelves on 31.08.09 (Monday) for $39.99 RRP.

Anyone who's been itching for more Kingdom Hearts since number two was released nearly three years ago has had little to hope for since the announcement of the sequels/prequels for the DS, the PSP and mobile platforms. Tidbits of information have slowly leaked from Japan, none though that have revealed much other than whats been seen in official trailers.

Yet, with the Japanese release date of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days for the Nintendo DS set for this February (thank you Game Informer), the information flood gates have given way faster than the levees during Katrina (aww, too soon?). Be ready to bask in all of its glory. For those unfamiliar with the DS title, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days takes place between Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts II. Allowing you to further explore the secrets of Organization XIII, you take on the role of Roxas and explore his story as he joins, participates, and leaves the mysterious group of people.

Here is the translated Famitsu DKS3713 demo impression of Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days.

KINGDOM HEARTS 358/2 Days
Planned Release: This Winter
Nintendo DS

Fans who have played the main numbered titles might find the DS button layout--moving with the D-pad, selecting commands with the X button--a little bit like being lost at sea. But, even that is only right at the start. In no time the discomfort fades and you feel like you're playing "Kingdom Hearts". The most unusual part is using the lower touch screen to change perspectives. While your left thumb is on the D-pad controlling movement, your right thumb manages the touch panels to regulate the point of view. It's quite an original way of controlling things (though it's possible this will change over development). The battle system is very simple with nothing unusual about it. However, gone is the system where magic used MP. Instead, we saw that commands like Fire had a number beside them, showing that each command is now governed by a limited number of uses.

Siliconera:
''Roxas' DS spinoff was scheduled to come out in 2008. However, a revised release list from the DKS3713 gives the game a vague "This Winter" release without 2008 in front of it. All of the other games on Famitsu's skeleton calendar have years assigned, even Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep which won't be showing up until 2009. The official site has the release date as TBA.''

Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days' teaser website has turned into an actual website now, with menus to click on and everything else you'd come to expect from a Square Enix website. It's still lacking in compelling content, however, aside from a downloadable wallpaper and a beautiful background song. (You can also see the Japanese character profiles for Roxas and Axel, as well as browse through a few screens in the "Story" section.)

The other interesting 358/2 Days news is that in the manual for the DS remake of Dragon Quest V (which released last week in Japan), an ad for the game boasts "Coming 2008." We'll probably find out for sure at Square Enix's DKS3713 event whether this is true or just an advertiser's wishful thinking, although it's important to keep in mind that us non-Japanese gamers will have to wait for localization, anyway.

· The controls have changed a lot since the demo at the recent Jump Festa, and feel "much better".

· The magazine has provided an image of Riku and Kairi together, and another image of Riku as a boss.

· Nomura says the development team is having problems with the DS' capacity, and because of that there might not be voices throughout the entire game. He also mentions they are working on getting around that.

"We really should hate attending the Jump Festa videogame and comic show. But the promise of Square Enix titles making their playable debut is way too much to pass up."

"At this year's event, open to the public on Saturday and Sunday, Square Enix was once again the main attraction for the videogame crowd. With the promise of playable debuts for the Final Fantasy fighting game for PSP, Final Fantasy: Dissidia, the new DS Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days, and the new mobile Final Fantasy IV spinoff, Final Fantasy IV: The After."

"This year's showcase had Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy XIII sandwiching short clips of the Parasite Eve mobile sequel and the Blu-ray version of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children."

In addition, Sega, Capcom, Bandai Namco, Nintendo, and Microsoft all have booths at the Jump Festa this year. 1UP's report briefly covers all of them.

Tetsuya Nomura is in the Japanese press yet again, sharing a few new bits of info on Square Enix's big Tokyo Game Show unveiling, the three new Kingdom Hearts games. This time, Nomura spoke to the monthly Gemaga.

Nomura began by noting that the fact that all three titles were announced at the same time doesn't mean players should consider the new Kingdom Hearts games to be similar to the Fabula Nova Crystallis or Compilation of Final Fantasy VII series. Different from those, the three games started development at different times and will be released at different times.
