Codemasters, the developer and publisher of acclaimed videogames including Colin McRae: DiRT and Race Driver: GRID, was honoured at the 2009 Develop Industry Excellence Awards winning the coveted Grand Prix Award. The ceremony was held last night in Brighton, UK, as part of the Develop Conference 2009.

Taking place on Thursday April 23rd at The Brewery, Chiswell Street, London, this year's MCV Industry Excellence Awards will be the most hotly-contested ever, with 17 accolades up for grabs, across a diverse range of categories covering the entire industry. Nintendo, EA, Ubisoft, Microsoft, Sega and Activision will battle it out for the Games Publisher Award, whilst individual titles Guitar Hero World Tour, GTA IV, FIFA 09, Fallout 3, Wii Fit and Call of Duty: World At War compete for Game Campaign.

This week, GRID is coming out on Nintendo DS. Just the thing for those summer holidays, and to showcase it, there's a new video showing off the amazing capabilities of the game's exclusive track editor! From the developers that brought the award-winning Race Driver: Create and Race, GRID DS keeps the same action-packed racing experience on tracks across three continents. Your track design talents will also be put to the test in track building challenges as you progress through the game. The game's also got extensive multiplayer options and leaderboards, and best of all you can use and share your custom-made tracks online. Codemasters have launched a Competition offering people the chance to get a livery they've designed featured in the upcoming DLC car pack for GRID. Entrants have to design a livery for the McLaren F1 GTR '95, which is the first car confirmed to be in the pack.

Codemasters has released a new video for GRID (Race Driver: GRID in the UK) that shows off a mode reminiscent of the rewind mode in Prince of Persia: Sands of Time.

The feature, dubbed 'Flashback,' allows players to inspect the detail of any crash using a rotating camera and go through the carnage frame-by-frame.

VG247: Codemasters confirmed this morning that the DS version of Race Driver GRID has been pushed into June, but that the release of the PC, PS3 and 360 versions is unaffected. Oh no, they're still bang on for next Friday, said a spokesperson for the publisher.
