This fall Japan gets the DS version of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars and it's rated CERO Z, that's like the equivalent of being rated AO by the ESRB.

All of the Grand Theft Auto games have been rated CERO Z so this isn't really a shocker. However, Chinatown Wars will be the first Nintendo DS game with the rating and the second CERO Z game on a Nintendo platform. Killer 7 from Capcom is the other CERO Z rated game on Nintendo hardware.

One notable entry in the NPD list will be "Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars," as it represents one of the few M-rated games on the system, is one of the few games made to high quality standards for the DS by a third-party, and, of course, the first "GTA" on the platform.

Michael Pachter, the well-established analyst for Wedbush Morgan Securities, predicts "Chinatown Wars" at 450,000 units for the NPD reporting period ending in early April.

"Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars," the DS game now possibly not coming out until April of next year, is a mysterious game.

Almost no one MTV Multiplayer has talked to in the industry has played it.

And those who have played it, well… they're not talking.

Yesterday, however, they interviewed Nintendo of America executive vice president of sales and marketing, Cammie Dunaway, and she was ready to spill.

As well as the now-infamous drug dealing mini-game in which you can sell the likes of acid, ecstasy and cocaine, there's also a petrol station one where you use the stylus to aim a petrol-pump nozzle to dispense fuel into bottles, then stuff them with rags to turn into Molotov cocktails.

One has you fiddling with a car's ignition system with a screwdriver to hotwire it, and another involves punching out the rear window of a car that's sinking in a harbour. There's also a screenshot which seems to show a game that has you inking in a tattoo with the DS stylus.

Rockstar vice president Dan Houser has spoken out about how Chinatown Wars will be just as adult as other GTA games when it launches, despite its DS roots.

Talking in the latest issue of EDGE, Houser stated:

"Nintendo wanted us to make GTA, and we wanted to make GTA on their platform. They didn't want us to make a GTA for kids, and we weren't interested in making a game we wouldn't normally make. GTA is about stealing cars and shooting people - how could it not be an 18 rating? You couldn't do GTA without that 18 - it wouldn't feel like it's supposed to feel."

Those who thought that the Nintendo DS exclusivity of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars meant it would be a family-friendly take on the series can rest easy, according to Rockstar's vice president of creative Dan Houser.

In the latest issue of Edge Magazine Houser reveals that, while the presentation of GTA: Chinatown Wars will be changed to an isometric viewpoint game populated with cel-shaded characters, the language and themes will stay true to the series proper.

In an interview with Nintendo's Cammie Dunaway [who announced GTA: Chinatown Wars for the DS at Nintendo's E3 press conference], she revealed that Nintendo are pushing on Rockstar for some new stuff on Chinatown Wars for the Penny Arcade Expo.

Rockstar Games have been confirmed to be attending so there is a good chance we will see some new Rockstar Games stuff including GTA for the Nintendo DS.
