This franchise mash-up for DSiWare sounds great: get the developers of Advance Wars to make a more casual version of it starring Dragon Quest monsters. Here's hoping it's as good as it sounds.

Bleach: The 3rd Phantom

The 3rd Phantom presents a rather standard strategy role-playing game that throws Bleach-related twists into it. Unfortunately, only fans will stick out the slow moving story and dialogue, and everyone else will wish they could skip straight to the combat.

Knights in the Nightmare

Knights in the Nightmare isn't a bad game; the combat system is addictive as hell, and while various elements of the game might seem like an odd mix, together, they make a lot of sense. It just tries to do too much.

LEGO Battles

Despite some dreadful path-finding annoyances, troublesome overlapping sprites, and easily conquered foes, LEGO Battles offers enough variety and value to be worth a look.

Codemasters moves the Overlord series onto handhelds, as you ably direct your minions with the stylus while the Master is off screen. However, this has too many bugs to make your enjoyment that worth it.

Age of Empires Mythologies

This turn-based version of the RTS staple works well on the DS, but at times is too bland, too difficult or both.

Defendin' De Penguin

If you were looking for a simple, kid friendly real time strategy game, perhaps this one involving cute, fluffy penguins is for you. Maybe.

Disgaea DS

NIS makes some fugly looking games but they make up for it. Disgaea DS has just as much depth as the original and has plenty of replay value.

Ninjatown

This Tower Defense-like strategy game is a great time that's sadly low on replayability. But it more than makes up for that in adorableness.

Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of Lagaard

The cartographer's worst nightmare returns for a second round of dungeon crawling. Commence grinding of the teeth.

The quintessential god game of the late 1980s, Populous actually played much better 2 decades ago on your dad's PC than it does on your DS.
