Hot Wheels: Battle Force 5

If you have any fond memories of playing with Hot Wheels toy cars as a kid, you may not actually be the target market here - this game seems more directed at fans of the Cartoon Network animated series. The emphasis on ridiculous stunts and speed seems to be intact, though.

Despite being named after the once popular MTV car improvement series, this is just a hum-drum racing game with less customization than most car titles.

Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing

Oy vey. Sonic and all his Sega buddies go where many mascots have gone before, the kart racer. It will feature such luminaries as Samba de Amigo, Ai Ai and Tails.

If you don’t already have Trackmania, GRID or Race Driver: Create & Race, DiRT 2 is a decent starting point. For those of us who have already played one or two of those games, it’s a case of diminishing returns.

The DS release of MySims Racing suffers the same slow moving karts as the Wii version, but offers some decent fun via multiplayer modes. Unfortunately, if you own Mario Kart then this title is not necessary for your library.
