Grab the Geoms
Enemies now drop Geoms, which can be collected to increase your multiplier. Higher multipliers yield an exponentially higher number of points per kill, which is key to getting a super high score.
Raise your Drones
Take the time to unlock the various Drone behaviors. Some behaviors are better suited for certain types of levels, so experiment with them and find out which ones best compliment your style of play.
Also, keep in mind that when some non-shooting Drones reach level 10, they acquire the ability to shoot. A maxed out Drone can mean the difference between failing to score any medals and winning the gold in later levels.
Click on the Drone behavior tab to the left for all the details you’ll need on Drones and their behaviors.
Kill the Mutators and Generators
Take down Mutators and Generators fast. Mutators will infect other enemies, making them more aggressive and deadly while Generators will spawn more enemies in large waves. Leaving multiple Mutators and Generators unchecked can quickly lead to a premature death.
Above: Taking out Generators quickly to prevent them from flooding the screen with more enemies is key to surviving and preserving your precious multiplier
Don’t fear the Bomb
The longer you can last with a maxed out multiplier, the higher your score will be.
Every second you survive with a high multiplier can make a huge difference in your final score, so don’t be afraid to use a bomb to clear the screen when you’re raking in the points.
But no matter what, death and a reset multiplier is inevitable, and deciding when to use bombs when building your multiplier back up can be tough. Our QA experts usually let them loose when their multiplier is 60 or higher, but if it’s 20 or lower, they’d rather sacrifice a life if there are a ton of enemies.
Running laps
Fan-made videos like this one suggest that the best way to survive with a high multiplier is to circle the edge of the screen, carving a path through enemies ahead of you when things start getting really hairy.
This tactic still works for open grids, but Geometry Wars: Galaxies has many levels with unique obstacles - like moving walls and Black Holes that toss you about - that can throw a wrench in this traditional approach to staying alive.
Happy Shooting
There’s plenty of new planets, enemies, and features to wrap your head around in Geometry Wars: Galaxies. But you should now be ready to fly out there and mark your spot on the leader boards and make your best Retro Evolved score look like chump change. Good luck!
