You'd be forgiven if you took one look at the cover of Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime and quickly put it back on the shelf with all the other kid-baiting DS and Game Boy cartridges. A baby blue gumdrop screams towards you with a vacant and slightly insane look of happiness on its round face while cutesy critters flail comically in the cartoon background. By all outside appearances, the game seems too drippingly adorable for anyone past diapers to enjoy. Let this be a lesson, then, not to ...

There are few things cuter than the Dragon Quest slime. Babies? Rarely. Hello Kitty? Overexposed. Kittens and puppies? Maybe in exceptional cases. Ounce for fluid ounce, Dragon Quest's smiling, diminutive blue puddles are in a class of their own. It's no wonder, then, that they've started appearing in their own video games. Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime is the first slime adventure for the Nintendo DS, and it's not only incredibly cute, but a pretty fun game as ...   » Read Full Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime preview

But why create a game based around one of the monsters from the ultra-traditional Dragon Quest role-playing series? According to producer Yoshiki Watabe, the slime is as recognizable in Japan as the Chocobo or Moogle - the symbols of the Final ...   » Read Full Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime preview

Rocket Slime. It doesn't sound like it means much, but actually it's a very interesting new game from Square Enix. Though it's an offshoot of the turn-based Dragon Quest RPG series, this game is more like Zelda. You'll adventure through dungeons, rescue your friends, and attack enemies head-on. Well, not exactly head-on, as you're a little blue slime without definable features except a face. You can do a surprising amount of damage, even ...   » Read Full Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime preview
