New DS shooter unveiled - first screens

Say hello to C.O.R.E. - a dark and gritty sci-fi shooter

Here are the first screenshots of a brand new first-person shooter from No Way Studio, a new Poland-based developer dedicated to the DS.

Set in the year 2050, C.O.R.E. takes you into a top-secret underground US research facility where research is carried out on the adverse effects of a meteor strike a few years ago.

We like the look of it. Its dark corridors and moody lighting look cool, the detail on one of the soldiers is decent, and that looks like one meaty blast in the player's hands, which is always good.

"We like to think that C.O.R.E. is a classic FPS game which we took to the next level," says No Way Studio's team leader, Lukasz Zarnowiecki. "Our idea was to implement the advanced graphics solutions and make the maximum use of unique features offered by Nintendo DS such as dual screen and touch-screen control system," he reveals.

That sounds like the same control system Metroid Prime Hunters uses.

He goes on to promise "a multitude of weapons, eerie enemies and primarily groundbreaking gameplay and original storyline."

C.O.R.E. will be playable at the Leipzig Games Convention in August, and is pencilled in for a Q4 release.
