You know the glut of cooking shows currently pervading The Tube of Boob? Yeah, that was Cooking Mama. In fact, without doing any research on the subject, we're going to go ahead and credit the tap-tastic collection of food-based minigames with the advent of Top Chef, the entire Food Network and the pinnacle of culinary culture thus far: the Texas Double Whopper.

Okay, maybe that's a bit of stretch, but it makes for a damn good intro for the sequel to one of the DS' hottest original games that most of you, yes, ate the hell up. Taking the winningly diverse formula from the likes of WarioWare and combining it with cutesy household cutlery proved to be a runaway success in the first Cooking Mama. So it's a safe bet that the upcoming Cooking Mama 2: Cooking with Friends has got plenty of folks salivating in Pavlovian anticipation with lots more of what they loved previously.

To start, you've got 80 new recipes to chop, slice and grind through, in around 150 different minigames. And that's just scratching the surface. You won't just knead, twirl and bake a pizza. You'll now get to decorate it to the approval of a panel of judges in order to earn medals and unlock new recipes. Just don't be fooled by the game's adorable facade. From adjusting temperatures to sautéing for color, the difficulty jumps around quite a bit. So cocky cooks - prepare to be humbled.
