Previously scheduled for a March release, Driv3r will now grace the shelves on June 1. The slippage is being rather slyly pitched by Bruno Bonnell, Chairman and CEO of Atari, as a marketing opportunity. "We believe that this additional time will give our marketing team the ability to exploit DRIV3R's full potential, meeting the high expectations of gamers, media and shareholders."
It definitely wasn't because it's nowhere near finished, then, and credible rumours of Atari drafting in extra coders for round-the-clock hackery should be regarded as in no way relevant.
Driv3r will hit PS2 and Xbox on 1 June 2004. (Touch wood).
