Dragon Age and Yakuza delayed, Disaster Report 4 canceled in reaction to quake

Several game companies have announced delays in the wake of Friday's 8.9 magnitude earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan. Meanwhile, Irem's Disaster Report 4 was outright canceled. Originally scheduled for release this spring, the game takes place in a Japanese city during a major earthquake.

Other March releases delayed due to the recent natural disaster include Sega's Yakuza: of the End. According to Sega, 'various circumstances' were responsible for the game missing its March 17 release date. Sony used the same phrase in describing a similar delay for Motorstorm 3. Dragon Age: Origins - Awakenings will also miss its March 17 release in Japan. In addition, Microsoft announced plans to cancel a promotional Kinect tour scheduled to tour Japan.

I can't imagine the people behind "Disaster Report 4" can continue making that game when all they had to do for inspiration and research is to just step out and walk around their country now. Personally, I'd rather see progress for Japan after this major event that another game.

Yeah there was Motorstorm problem in another country due to earthquakes or disasters but now it looks like Japan will be on that list now. I get it, you don't want to be offensive, but I don't get it. If you're upset about the game then don't buy it, why cancel it all together?! I hope people over there are ok though, that's crazy.

That Disaster Report concept was pretty spooky

@salvadorzombie Wow you sir have some issues to work through. I was referring to the lack of Dragon Age 2 reviews on GR.I was going for a Phyllis Diller/Agnes Skinner laugh at the end. Lame I know. If you are that sensitive I don't think you should be on the "internets".

Holy crap what are the chances a game like that was going to come out, it is a real shame it was canceled as it looked really good. Though I understand why they canceled it, would have been so fucked up to release a game like that after this haha. Also Salvadorzombie, chill out. Wasn't even a bad joke, if that got you butthurt I can't imagine how insecure you must be.

Thats it, I blame Disaster Report for the quake. Way to make a game about a natural disaster right before it actually happens

I wonder if Dissidia 012 will get delayed as well? I hope to God I'm wrong...
  • salvadorzombie - March 14, 2011 10:09 p.m.

    Real funny, asshole.
