Watch the Double Fine Adventure, the most 'in-depth and honest' look at making games

Broken Age came out in full back in April, but the Double Fine Adventure has only just concluded. Starting from the Kickstarter pitch video that sold nearly 90,000 backers on the promise of Tim Schafer's grand return to the adventure genre, the 20-part documentary series follows the highs of crowdfunding success, through the lows of ambition crashing against budget, to the nervous final moments of launch and beyond.

All 12 hours of footage, covering three years of work, are available on YouTube now. Several people who know quite a bit about making games have praised it as one of the most honest and insightful looks into development ever made available to the public, so if you have even a tiny bit of interest in peeking behind the curtain, get watching.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
