Despite only being eight years old, Doom 3's decidedly brutal and unforgiving approach may well lead some newer gamers class it as a bit creaky these
days. Having just played the new Gamescom demo of the new and upgraded BFG Edition though, we’re as impressed as we ever were. Moreso, in fact.

Unlike (surprisingly) the thing he's working on

If there's one thing John Carmack of id Software knows, it's graphics. So when he says the next generation of consoles will use up all of their extra processing power on resolutions and frame-rates, we listen. But then again, he does have something else he'd rather we were talking about...

Doom 3 BFG Edition release date announced

Ten years ago today, Microsoft released the original Xbox in North

groundbreaking in a number of ways. It also set up Microsoft to release

The Facehuggers from the Alien films are the archetypal enemies that scuttle and jump at your face. Doom 3 then. Too dark. Too claustrophobic. Too many corridors. Not enough carnage. Closet monsters, closet, monsters, closet monsters. And that torch-or-gun mechanic is cheap as hell. Worrying news yesterday. The producer of the so-much-fun-they-could-be-herpes Resident Evil movies said that he'd love the games and films to converge at some point. Two problems with that. The films bare barely any resemblance to the games, and also, they are dire.
