Doctor Who "The Day Of The Doctor" Overnight Ratings

The overnight ratings are in and the 50th Anniversary Specia l episode of Doctor Who – “The Day Of The Doctor” – and they show that 10.18 million people tuned in to see it live.

That’s the largest overnight viewing figure for the the show since the first Matt Smith Christmas episode, “A Christmas Carol” (10.3 million), and is an absolutely tremendous result against the once-ratings juggernaut that is The X-Factor , which fell to 7.67 million. Who apparently peaked at 10.61 million, so hardly any drop off – people were sticking round to see the whole thing.

Strictly Come Dancing still came number one for the day, though, with 10.56 million.

The Who episode is also currently number one on iPlayer , and expect a massive shift upwards when the data for the number of people who watched using catch-up services is released in just over a week’s time.

Reports suggest that the cinema showings of “The Day Of The Doctor” amassed £1.7 million in the UK – which is pretty amazing too! Films showing all week across the UK would be happy with box office like that!

And don’t forget that the SFX Ultimate Guide To Time Travel is available now, with a massive celebration the Eleventh Doctor’s era…
