Doctor Strange's first mind-bending trailer has Benedict Cumberbatch in search of teaching

While the beautiful first poster for Doctor Strange dropped a few hours ago, what we've really been waiting for is the first trailer from the highly anticipated Marvel film. As promised, the teaser has now been unveiled, giving us a mind-bending first look at Benedict Cumberbatch's Sorcerer Supreme in action. Check it out below...

By the Eye of Agamotto, as first looks go that was pretty fantastic. Doctor Strange looks like it's going to be a unique entry in the MCU; the visuals are really impressive - and a little Inception-esque - and it teases a world I want to learn more about immediately.

The one thing that is giving me a little pause is Tilda Swinton as the gender-swapped Ancient One. While I have no doubt that she will kill it in the role - that snippet of her punching Strange's spirit out of his body was legitimately GREAT - the Ancient One has traditionally been Asian, so her casting brings up some racebending issues. It's not a deal-breaker (yet), but it is problematic.

Marvel have also released a colourful new poster featuring Doctor Cumberstrange in all his glory...

Directed by Scott Derickson and starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tilda Swinton, Benedict Wong, Scott Adkins, Rachel McAdams, Michael Stuhlbarg and Mads Mikkelsen, Doctor Strange is released in UK cinemas on October 28, 2016 before opening in US theatres on November 4, 2016.
