Disney planning another Tower Of Terror movie

Disney is set to dust off another of its classic theme park rides for the big screen treatment, with the studio planning a new movie version of Tower Of Terror. You might recall that Disney already took one shot at this with a Steve Guttenberg-starring TV movie back in 1997, but then again, you might not…

In any case, the studio is keen to have another crack of the whip, with Big Fish writer John August having turned in a script based on the ride’s central premise. For those who haven’t visited the park itself, the set-up sees a group of guests entering the elevator of an old Hollywood hotel, and disappearing into the ether after it is struck by lightning. Spooky stuff.

Despite the success of Pirates Of The Caribbean, Disney hasn’t really pushed too hard on adapting any of its other famous rides, with Haunted Mansion and Magic Kingdom reaching the development stage but going no further. It remains to be seen whether Tower Of Terror fares any better…
